Certified Tutor

My name is Dawa Sherpa Lama. I am from Queens (Woodside) New York. I moved to Baltimore City, MD in 2016. I graduated from Mount Holyoke College, 2015 with a degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology. I am currently attending Baltimore City Community College to fulfill a prerequisite for Pharmacy school. As the eldest daughter in the family, I have always been a role model for my younger sisters. I have also always enjoyed teaching and taking care of people emotionally and mentally. I first started working as a tutor in NY during the summer break (sophomore year of college). On the weekday, I worked as a tutor for a group of middle school students on improving their scores on math and science. Whereas on weekends I worked as a private tutor for high school students who needed help with PSAT and SAT preparation. Today, I have an experience of working as Tutor for 3-4 years with students ranging from elementary - college levels with expertise in math, science, and reading. I love my job as a tutor. Working with students of different age group, I have learned a lot about my self, my students, learning strategies and how to effectively deliver information to the student with different learning skills and abilities.

Aside from student, I am also a soldier in the U.S Army. As a soldier, I have developed many leadership skills and have learned to become a woman who is strong emotionally, mentally and physically. Today I am very proud to serve my country, communities, and students who are struggling with school work.
