Certified Tutor

I love to help others learn and overcome challenges. My background and experience enable me to provide a unique approach that meets each individual need. I have a BA in Social Science from Chapman University, a Masters in Teaching degree from Washington State University, and a K-12 Education Administration certification from Whitworth University. I have attained the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification for K-8 in English Language Arts. I have taught 5th grade for 9 years and currently I am an Assistant Principal at an elementary school.

I've also worked in the financial services industry as a financial advisor and served in the US Navy for 20 years as an enlisted aircrewman. I love to learn new things and have a deep passion for teaching and helping others.

I tutor primarily in the areas of reading, math, and writing. My favorite areas are math and writing. Both are subjects I struggled with during my K-12 education and it was through my college and teaching experience that I developed a strong understanding of math and writing. Many students struggle in these areas, as I did, so it's my passion to use what I have learned to help others.
I love sport activities and anything outdoors. My favorites are boating, fishing, and golf. I'm a competitor and a passionate person, so anything that allows me to compete brings me joy. I also love being around people, so social activities where I can build relationships with others is where I want to be!
