Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of the University of Vermont with a degree in German, Chinese, and Psychology. Following my four years of undergraduate studies and a year long study abroad to China, I entered one of the top pos-grad educational programs in the country. The Teaching Residency Program through the University of Pennsylvania provided me access to work with, and learn from some of the most successful educators in New England. During this two year program, I taught Chinese at one of the top elite prep boarding schools in the country, Saint Paul's School.

My experience working with students is not limited to the classroom nor academic setting, as I worked equally as long with students in residential life and athletic contexts.

I tutor Chinese and German language and culture, as I have a degree in both languages and have also spent more than two years collectively studying and living in those countries.

When I am not mentoring or teaching, I am expanding my exposure to foreign languages and affairs, traveling abroad, seeking extreme sports such as surfing and snowboarding, training in martial arts such as Western Boxing and Taiji, and creating music on guitar with friends.

My teaching style is student centered and intended for long term retention and development of competence in the subject. My learning philosophy is that the deepest level of learning is attained when one develops a habit of courageously encountering that which they least know. As the position of the unknown is constantly in fluctuation, it is a harmony of dreams, developed thought, action, consequence, reflection, and finally rearticulation of underlying presuppositions and values.
