Certified Tutor

I am currently an undergraduate at Iowa State University double majoring in Journalism/Mass Communication and International Studies with a focus on Asia and international communication. I have always been very enthusiastic about academics and am passionate about being a lifelong learner. My hope is that through tutoring, I can share my love and appreciation of learning with others and assist them academically and emotionally throughout their journey to master a specific skill or subject.

While I tutor in a few range of subjects, I am most passionate about teaching English and Japanese. Having grown up living in an immigrant household, I learned English and Japanese at the same time and have always spoken both languages at home. In addition, I have attended school in both the US and Japan, my full-year abroad in Osaka, Japan in high school being the most recent and longest period. My experiences being in Japan throughout my life have allowed me to be fluent in Japanese in speaking, writing, and reading.

Having experienced completely different education systems in the US and Japan, I have a broader understanding of what techniques in teaching work and don't work. It is my utmost priority to find what teaching method is best suited for the students because everyone learns differently! As a tutor, my goal will always be to encourage and support students in their academic endeavors to the best of my ability and it is reward enough to be able to contribute to their progress!
