Certified Tutor

I believe that everyone should have access to the best possible educational opportunities. I have been a nurse for 30 years in different settings and populations which has given me a wide variety of experiences. I have a master's degree in nursing, specializing in education, and am within 6 months of completing my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. My research focuses on improving fall risk assessment to reduce falls in assisted living residents. I am certified to tutor anatomy and physiology, cardiology, medical terminology, medicine, nursing, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and science. As a full-time nursing faculty member, my favorite topic is medical/surgical nursing because it is the foundation upon which all nursing actions are based. I enjoy creating excitement in my classes. I encourage questions, they tell me the students are thinking more deeply! I get excited when I see students make those connections between what they've read in preparation for class and the application of the concepts discussed in class. For me, it's not just understanding the information, it's about the ability to correctly apply the information that "rings my bell."
