Certified Tutor

I am currently a 3rd year medical student at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine at New Mexico State University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Bachelor of Science in General Biology while also having completed graduate coursework in Microbiology. Prior to medical school I taught various courses in Science, Math, Political Science, and Spanish in a preparatory school. There I worked with a variety of students with different learning needs and challenges. At Cal State East Bay I worked as a lab instructor for the Biological Sciences department teaching labs in Microbiology, Animal Biology, and Anatomy & Physiology. At CSUEB I was also a Teaching Associate for the General Studies department where I assisted with curriculum development for 1st year college freshmen. My approach to teaching involves connecting with students through humor and real-world examples to engage their interest. During my first teaching demonstration, I developed and implemented a lesson plan using memes (and was hired to teach college freshmen). During my free time I volunteer at a community clinic as a medical provider and Spanish interpreter. Outside of medicine and academics I train as a competitive powerlifter and enjoy poetry.
