Certified Tutor

My name is Bunie, but you knew that already. My strategy for teaching is very much the same. Helping out with making the links between what we know and what we think we do not know.

After High school, I completed the International Baccalaureate diploma in Fife, Scotland. My dissertation was in theoretical genetics. It was also fun to be in a Northern town with 3 beaches and more double rainbows than I have seen anywhere since!

My undergraduate degree was in England at a student village about 30 minutes West of London. It boasted the best student nights in the UK, though to whether that is true on not I plead the fifth. I earned my Master's in Pharmacy here and graduated with a Magma cum laude. Dissertation in neuro-regeneration.

My post-graduate degree was in medicine, on an Island. Yes, I studied for a good part of my medical degree on a Caribbean island! I then completed the final 2 years rotating between hospitals and clinics in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn. Graduating with Summa cum laude.

While in the Caribbeans I tutored other junior medical students through personally scheduled lectures and vignette sets. Throughout my clinical years in the US, I have been working with a private tutoring agency. I have now decided to work independently.

I have an MD with honor's. This demonstrates competency in Anatomy, Histology, Pathophysiology and Clinical sciences. I have a Master's in Pharmacy. This demonstrates competency in Chemistry, Genetics and applied Pharmaceutical Sciences.

With my qualifications and certificates, as well as a 96% average (Summa cum laude) in medical school, which include NBME/USMLE guided assessments in calculations.

This said I still feel like the hardest part of being a tutor isn't knowing the knowledge. It is being able to communicate knowledge in a manner that promotes retention while retaining interest. I know from my experience tutoring that these are domains I greatly excel in.
