Helping students master English is a deeply rewarding experience for me. I'm passionate about guiding their progress as they transition from unfamiliarity with the language to confidently using it on their own. It's the small victories and moments of growth that keep me motivatedseeing them gain proficiency and independence is what makes this work so fulfilling.
I've had the opportunity to work with students in both classroom and tutoring settings, and I've learned that bridging language gaps can be a challenge. Especially in environments where students don't initially speak English, I've found that using a few essential words or phrases can create a connection and help guide them toward understanding. I've carried these techniques into my tutoring practice, refining them to help students gradually build their skills and confidence in English.
I earned my degree from Arizona State University, majoring in Sociology with a minor in Film Studies. I have tutored ESL/EFL, as well as more advanced English, such as helping students with writing essays at the high school and college levels. One of my favorite experiences has been tutoring creative writing. Encouraging students to explore language creatively not only allowed me to connect with them on a deeper level, but it also empowered them to express their own stories and ideas in a way that was meaningful to them.
My teaching philosophy centers on encouragement. I believe that true learning happens through trial and error, so I push my students to try, fail, and try again. Mistakes are a natural part of the learning process, and creating a supportive environment where students feel free to take risks is essential to their growth.
Outside of tutoring, my interests range from video games and movies to reading and writing novels and exploring philosophy. These passions inspire my approach to teaching, as I strive to bring creativity and critical thinking into every session.
