I graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2015, majoring in both Accounting and Italian. Since then, I have spent the majority of my career working in public accounting, focusing on corporate taxes. My time has mostly been spent between preparing/ reviewing a corporation tax return, preparing calculations that go into their financial statement and consulting. I currently work for a life sciences company, in their tax department. I have passed the CPA exam and am a licensed CPA. During my day job, I advise my company on what decisions they should make based on the current market to maximize tax savings and take advantage of tax opportunities. I've provided tax advice and strategies to numerous Fortune 500 companies and others trading on the DOW. I've been working in the finance/accounting industry for a little over nine years
While working in public accounting, I have had the opportunity to lead both large group trainings and small one on one trainings with staff who worked directly with me. I am a visual learner and think that the best way to truly learn and understand a concept is by seeing it drawn out in front of you and by practicing examples. Real world application helps! I'm pretty patient and have had success in teaching the most complex concepts to a variety of different pupils, it may just take a few tries to tailor the lesson to people's specific learning styles. Being from a big family also means the responsibility of tutoring cousins and siblings in subjects like accounting and math. I thoroughly enjoying teaching and my ultimate goal is to become a professor at university.
Now just to keep everyone on their toes, I also can tutor Italian. My second bachelors degree is in Italian Language and Literature and have spent 3 months studying abroad in Ferrara, where I lived with a host family. My host family did not speak a word of English (and to this day still do not) and I had host siblings I would help with their English homework! I also spent some time after graduating college nannying in the Lombardy region of Italy. Since then, I have been to Italy about six or seven more times (I have lost count) and every time I go, I truly immerse myself in the culture.

I love traveling both domestically and internationally. I go to the same places a lot but I usually try to add a new place a couple times a year. I recently completed my goal of visiting all the states on the East Coast and now am trying to do the West Coast. I also enjoy reading, cycling, puzzles and trying new foods.
