I am a Spanish-speaking mom of 2 kids, a young adult teen and a (soon to be!) middle schooler. I am an open-hearted and patient person and I welcome people from all walks of life. Diversity is a strength in both the biological world and in our communities.
My studies began at the University of South Florida with a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and were followed by 14 years in the classroom from elementary to middle school. Years later, I completed a Master's Degree in Environmental Science and Policy and had the amazing opportunity to become an adjunct professor at the prestigious University of Tampa teaching undergraduates Environmental Science and Biology. I relished this time as it challenged me to win over non-majors to the sciences. I did this with hands-on and small group activities, often outdoors, and by relating the concepts we talked about to real life applications and interests of my students.
Today, I work in real estate and wellness coaching and teach in small groups at local yoga and wellness centers. I think I'm a born teacher due to my curious nature and enthusiasm for the world. I would be honored to help your learner connect with and understand with the material while increasing their self-esteem and their curiosity for the world.

Hobbies

I have a passion for all types of music from hip hop to bluegrass and then some, travel especially to tropical or mountainous regions or areas known for their museums or art scene, nature: biology, ecology, environmental science and social justice; and for the creative arts: writing, reading, art, sketching, dance, paddle boarding, kayaking and hiking. I am rarely ever bored because I have so many interests and can see the intrigue and beauty in nearly everything! On a regular day, you can find me reading from all genres, hanging out with my artsy kids, walking my dog, learning Italian on Duolingo or enjoying the outdoors whether in my backyard or a park or beach.
