A solid score on this exam could make it easier to get into the schools that you apply to and could also help you earn more scholarship offers.

You can also keep reading for more information on this exam and what we can do to help you get ready for it.
What do you need to know before taking the LSAT?
The LSAT or Law School Admissions Test is a standardized test that is taken by individuals who are getting ready to apply to law school. The exam was designed for the purpose of helping law schools assess which of their applicants are most suited for success in the law school environment. To that end, the exam tests many of the skills that you'll need to have as a law student and as a practicing lawyer. The test accomplishes this through four sections that focus on the skills of Reading Comprehension, Analytical Reasoning, Writing, and Logical Reasoning.
The Reading Comprehension section of the LSAT tasks test-takers with reading through a series of complex, dense written passages. These passages may focus on a variety of different topics. You'll need to pay close attention to what you're reading and then answer a number of questions based on these passages. You may be asked to answer questions about the passage's main purpose, the author's point of view, the guiding principles of the passage, or how introducing new information would impact the passage. The Reading Comprehension section has a 35-minute time limit.
There are two sections of Logical Reasoning on the LSAT, each of which has a time limit of 35 minutes. In this section, you'll be tasked with reading short statements from sources like magazines, newspapers, and advertisements. You'll then need to answer questions based on these statements. For example, you may be asked to draw a conclusion from what you've read, identify the assumptions that were made, reason by analogy, and more.
The next LSAT section focuses on Analytical Reasoning. This part of the LSAT is also often called "Logic Games" because of the game-like nature of the work that you'll do in the section. For example, you may be tasked with doing something like placing a group of objects in their correct order. However, you'll only be given a handful of rules that govern the relationships between the objects. You'll need to make inferences and use your ability to reason with logic to determine the final order of the objects. This test section also has a 35-minute time limit.
The last section of the LSAT focuses on Writing. Here, you'll be given a prompt that describes two different courses of actions or positions. Your job will be to pick one of the two actions or positions and write an essay that argues why your choice is the right one. This part of the LSAT won't count towards your final score. However, it's important to take it seriously because it's a great chance to show the schools you apply to that you're skilled as a writer.

I tutor the LSAT because I know it's a hard test and I know what it's like to struggle with it. However I also understand the process necessary to produce better scores, and nothing is more satisfying to me than helping someone achieve what seemed impossible a few months ago.... Your score is a product of so many factors--your understanding of the material, your speed, even how accurately you bubble answers--but in the end it all comes down to whether you studied the test from every angle and put in the time necessary to get the results you want.
