If you feel as though your Denver GMAT prep could use a boost, Varsity Tutors can set you up with a variety of test prep services that can help improve your self-confidence heading into the exam. GMAT stands for Graduate Management Admission Test, a high-stakes exam that many business schools such as the University of Colorado Denver Business School and Colorado State University consider in applications. The test serves to give admissions departments a sense of how well an applicant might perform in their classroom, so it's important to put your best foot forward.
The GMAT has four sections that each emphasize an important area in business education. Let us help you find the assistance you need with each area of the exam. For example, you can take a GMAT prep course that allows you to study in a collaborative learning environment with a knowledgeable teacher and other students preparing to take the test. Alternatively, we can connect you with a Denver GMAT tutor if you would prefer individualized attention.
What topics can I review during my Denver GMAT preparation?
There are four sections on the GMAT: Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Integrated Reasoning, and an Analytical Writing Assessment. The exam's Verbal Reasoning section assesses a test-taker's understanding of the mechanics of the English language. Questions on this section fall into three broad categories. First, you have reading comprehension items that measure whether you can understand logical relationships and draw inferences from what you read. Second, you have critical reasoning items that evaluate your ability to make and analyze arguments and plans of action. Third, you have sentence completions that require you to answer grammar questions based on the underlined portion of a sentence. You have a total of 65 minutes to answer 36 multiple-choice questions.
The test's Quantitative Reasoning section measures your analytical thinking, logic, data interpretation, and quantitative problem-solving abilities. Questions on this section fit into two categories: problem-solving and data sufficiency. Problem-solving items ask test-takers to answer math problems using data provided, while data sufficiency questions require you to distinguish between helpful information and less useful data to determine when you can answer a given question. You have 62 minutes to answer 31 multiple-choice questions on this section.
The GMAT's Integrated Reasoning section evaluates how well you can apply what you have learned in a classroom to real-world situations. There are a variety of question types on this section, including table analysis, graphic interpretation, two-part analysis, and multi-source reasoning. You have half an hour to answer 12 questions, but most of the items on this portion of the exam require multiple answers. You'll need to work quickly if you hope to finish on time.
Finally, the GMAT's Analytical Writing Assessment is a 30-minute essay that measures your communication and critical thinking skills. You are asked to evaluate an argument, citing examples to reinforce your point as necessary. Your score is based on numerous factors, including topical analysis, syntactic variety, clarity of expression, and your understanding of the material. It is generally advisable to approach this section with a clear plan in mind, as you do not have time to stare at the screen wondering what to say next.
How can Denver GMAT prep help me study for the test?
Varsity Tutors can arrange two powerful test prep solutions: live online classes and one-on-one tutoring sessions. Each Denver GMAT prep class takes place on a live virtual platform that allows you to interact with your teacher and fellow students as if you were in the same classroom, making your test prep as convenient as possible. Your instructor will also be a great communicator, allowing them to answer any questions you have about how to outline your essay for the Analytical Writing Assessment or organize the data provided in the Integrated Reasoning section. Discussing topics like these with other students may also help deepen your understanding, enabling you to feel more confident when you sit down to take the test. Of course, you can always arrange one-on-one study time with your instructor if you need extra help with something.
Both college students and working professionals tend to lead busy lives, so we offer two- and four-week courses to help you find something that works for you. We are also starting new courses every week, so it's always a good time to jump in and start working toward your academic goals!
If you would prefer individualized attention, we can help you connect with a tutor who can provide convenient one-on-one tutoring sessions via our exclusive Live Learning Platform to help you study whenever and wherever you wish. Your instructor can take time to understand your preferred learning style, allowing them to design sessions customized for you to enhance your study efficiency. Working with a private instructor also allows you to concentrate on your areas of opportunity. For instance, if you're great at the Quantitative Reasoning section, your instructor can focus on other areas to keep your study sessions engaging and productive.
Similarly, private educators allow you to progress at your own pace. You never need to leave a topic behind until you are comfortable doing so. When you give the go-ahead, your instructor can shift gears immediately to help you make the most of the time you spend studying.
Regardless of the test prep option you choose, you can take practice exams to develop a greater familiarity with what the test expects of you. For example, the GMAT is an electronic exam utilizing CAT (Computer-Adaptive Testing) technology. It might sound complicated, but it just means that the computer selects questions for you according to how you have fared on previous items. If you've never taken a test like this before, gaining some firsthand experience with it could go a long way toward relieving any text anxiety you are dealing with.

I'm a huge Red Sox fan and love watching detective shows when I have free time.... Positivity. Always.
