Whether you are just beginning your journey towards preparing for the GMAT or you've recently run into a roadblock, Varsity Tutors can assist you with getting started in a Houston GMAT class. The GMAT is used as a part of the admissions process when it comes to getting into business school. So whether you are aiming to get into the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston or the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University, you may need to do well on the GMAT to have a chance at gaining admission.

The GMAT consists of four different sections, all of which are designed to give business schools an idea as to whether you would be able to handle the rigors of their program. As such, it is important for you to perform well in each section to boost your chances of gaining admission. Working with an instructor in a GMAT course can be helpful in terms of reviewing the type of material that is likely going to be on the exam.

What could a Houston GMAT class help me review?

The GMAT is made up of four sections, which are the Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Integrated Reasoning, and Analytical Writing Assessment. The questions on the exam are made up of both essay questions and multiple choice questions. Students receive up to 3.5 hours to complete the exam assuming that they do not take the optional breaks. In order to perform well on the exam, you will need to know material from a wide range of subject areas. Working in a Houston GMAT class can help in terms of reviewing the necessary material.

The Verbal Reasoning Section is graded between 0 and 60 points and is made up of 36 multiple choice questions. Students have up to 65 minutes to complete this section. The Verbal Reasoning Section tests your reading comprehension and critical reasoning skills. Questions concerning reading comprehension involve students reading a passage and answering questions about what you read. This is designed to test your ability to interpret and understand the information that you read. Questions concerning critical reasoning involve reading a passage and being able to develop plans of action or arguments.

The Quantitative Reasoning Section is also scored between 0 and 60 points and students have up to 62 minutes to complete this section. It consists of 31 multiple choice questions and is designed to test your ability to interpret graphic data and problem solve from a quantitative and mathematical standpoint. This section includes two types of questions, including data sufficiency and problem-solving. The questions concerning data sufficiency are designed to test your ability to sort out relevant data and analyze problems. The questions regarding problem-solving examine how well you are able to reason analytically and how well you are able to use logic.

The Integrated Reasoning Section is graded between 1 and 8 points and students receive up to 30 minutes to complete this section. This section consists of 12 questions that are designed to examine your ability to use sources to solve problems. You will also be required to organize and compare data. This section is designed to provide insight into how well you are able to use information from a variety of sources to make reliable decisions.

The final section of the GMAT is an Analytical Writing Assessment. This section consists of 1 question and is scored between 0 and 6 points. This section requires you to write an essay, which you will be given 30 minutes to complete. This section is designed to test your critical thinking skills and your ability to communicate well in written English. Writing an effective response will require you to be able to evaluate arguments, organize and develop ideas, and quickly plan out a response.

How does a Houston GMAT course help me prepare?

A Houston GMAT course can help you prepare for the test in a wide range of ways. Some of this material may be topics that you never learned about in your classes while other topics may have been covered a long time ago.
