If you're thinking about taking the ACT, consider signing up for a Jacksonville ACT prep course offered by Varsity Tutors. This program lets you prepare for the exam with other teenagers. The ACT is a well-known test taken by high school upperclassmen who want to increase their chances of admission into a university.
A Jacksonville ACT class may be the right solution for you to get ready for the test. These classes are online, and lessons are directed by a professional teacher. They help you become familiar with its format and other components.
If you attend schools like Stanton College Preparatory or the Paxon School for Advanced Studies, you probably are a bit knowledgeable about the ACT already. It gives you a taste of what to expect in college courses. It's essential for you to do your best on it since it plays a major role during the college entrance process.
What could a Jacksonville ACT course help me go over?
The ACT is a standardized exam with four mandatory sections and one optional section. The time limit for the exam is two hours and 55 minutes. If you choose to complete the optional section, the time limit is three hours and 35 minutes. On the day of the test, you should bring No. 2 pencils, an acceptable form of ID, a ticket, a calculator, a watch, and something to snack on during the ten-minute break. Read more about these sections below.
The Math section contains 60 multiple-choice questions that cover pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. It assesses your ability to solve problems involving functions, equations, geometric shapes, and other components of math. Its scoring scale ranges from 1 to 36, and you have an hour to complete it.
The Reading section has 40 multiple-choice questions containing reading passages that measure your reading comprehension skills. Here, you're required to know the difference between facts and opinions, determine word and phrase meanings, make connections between various texts, and identify themes and central ideas. Its scoring scale ranges from 1 to 36, and you have 35 minutes to finish it.
The English section possesses 75 multiple-choice questions with passages that assess your writing and language skills. These questions test you on style and tone of language, topic development, and the correct use of English. You're scored on a scale from 1 to 36, and you have a 45-minute time limit.
The Science section has 40 multiple-choice questions. The questions cover physics, biology, earth/space sciences, and chemistry. You have to apply your analyzing, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of the scientific method to answer questions. You're scored on a scale from 1 to 36, and you have 35 minutes to complete this section.
The Writing section has only one essay question. The question contains a writing prompt about an issue and three perspectives on the issue. Your job is to provide your own view and analyze the connections between your opinion and the other perspectives. Even though you're not required to do this section, it's highly recommended that you complete it because it can help you prepare for term papers you would get when you enroll in college. You're scored on a scale from 2 to 12, and its time limit is 40 minutes.
There is possibly an experimental section after the Science section. It won't be scored, and this will be clearly marked. Also, don't skip questions; answer every one because you won't be penalized for guessing.
How does a Jacksonville ACT class help me review for the exam?
Each Jacksonville ACT course takes place online. As a college-bound student, you probably have other responsibilities like homework, an after-school job, or an extracurricular activity. So that you don't have to worry about choosing between your obligations and your studies, we're proud to say that the courses we offer occur on a weekly basis. If you want a quick review of the ACT, sign up for a two-week course. If you prefer to spend more time going over the exam, you can enroll in a four-week course. When you find a course that aligns with your schedule, you can start participating in lessons. Because all sessions are online, you can study from the comfort of home.
Once you sign up for a Jacksonville ACT class, you'll associate with other pupils and an educator in a virtual environment. The teachers who direct these classes have gone through a rigorous vetting process to make sure that they're fluent in their subjects and are able to communicate well with high school students. You and your fellow students will collaborate in group discussions and activities to study for the ACT exam. If you want to review the Math section, you and your peers can use sample worksheets for solving math problems that may be on the test. You can also strengthen your English language skills for the English section by going over grammar rules. The teacher can give you all excellent test-taking strategies like how to figure out test questions that confuse you or how to choose the best answer when two of them sound like the correct one. These classes even give you the opportunity to support each other if you or another student becomes nervous about the test. In addition, you can ask the instructor to give you private help on any section or sections you have trouble with.
This sounds great. How do I sign up for a Jacksonville ACT course?

...students who were behind grade level in elementary and middle school and also as a substitute teacher for middle and high school students. I have over 150 classroom hours as a teaching intern in a high school history class at Atlantic Coast High School. I have tutored for over 5 years. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my son, my dog and my two cats, and listening to music.... I believe that there is more to the purpose of education than the obvious. Socialization and the acquisition of knowledge are important, but I think that another important aspect of education often goes overlooked: to create a love of learning. I hope that through teaching I can instill in children a passion for learning and for thinking critically on matters, so that they approach the world as strong, independent-minded adults with a thirst for truth and understanding.
