As an experienced tutor and teacher with a Ph.D. in English, my ultimate goal has always been for students to read and use written language not only as a way of demonstrating knowledge, but as a means for acquiring knowledge. I encourage students to use language to structure their thinking in ways that will ensure success in whatever course, exam, or extracurricular goal they hope to achieve.
