Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Elaine in Buffalo, NY
We reviewed the last lesson on family vocabulary, including the Chinese pronunciations for home, family members, mom, dad, paternal/maternal grandpa and grandma, and other common vocabulary involving friends and where one's home is. Next, we learned how to tell the date and times of the day in Chinese. The new vocabulary we learned included year, month, day (two different ways), week, days of the week, Sunday (two different ways), hour, minute, half hour, morning, late morning, noon, afternoon, and evening. The student remembered the numbers 1-100 really well, and he quickly grasped how to tell the date and time in Chinese. I helped him practice pronouncing and writing the dates and times of the day, and we also practiced listening and identifying the dates and times. He has excellent pronunciation and listening skills in Chinese.

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Hua in Buffalo, NY
We went through 50 flashcards and a book about farm animals I brought. We had a conversation about family members, siblings, and pets. I encouraged the students to use Chinese as much as possible during class. We went through words about numbers, colors, fruits, and animals. We then went through another set of flashcards and learned some new characters including nouns, adjectives etc.(sound, meaning, and writing). We reviewed body part, words they already knew, and then they learned new ones that they don't know. We learned some words about directions. We learned a song about ''twinkle twinkle little star'' in Chinese and another song about ''morning'' in Chinese. I gave them each a sheet to practice writing characters (about 20).

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Jessica in Buffalo, NY
The student and I began our session by discussing his homework assignments. We worked on a worksheet that was started in class. The worksheet was about a song and asked comprehension questions. After that, we corrected his test from last week so he could get some points back. He did quite well on his test, scoring an 87. After completing his assignments, we practiced dictation. I would say a sentence in Chinese 3-4 times, and he would write it down. He did a great job with this.

Today we reviewed everything that we have learned so far. The student is improving in his skills with constructing sentences with all the vocabulary. The more we practice pronouncing the words, the more he is improving with the pronunciation of the words. We learned how to say "I like" and "I dislike" and a variety of foods.
