Your score on the ACT is an important factor that plays a part in admission to the school of your choosing. If you're in Milwaukee and attending a school like Marquette University High School and West High School, you'll likely take the ACT in preparation for the application process. Since you'll want to get the highest score possible, it's important to study and put your best foot forward.
What can a Milwaukee ACT class help me review?
The ACT consists of four sections: Math, Reading, English, and Science. This lasts 2 hours and 55 minutes with no breaks in the process. If you choose the ACT Plus Writing, you'll have an optional essay section added on, making the test lasts for 3 hours and 35 minutes with no breaks.
The Math portion of the ACT is an hour long with 60 questions. You'll have the chance to earn a score of anywhere from 1-36. Here, you'll be tested in mathematical subjects you would have studied up until the final year of high school. Among the topics covered are pre-algebra, elementary to intermediate algebra, plane geometry, and trigonometry. Although you'll have a minute per question, it's important to work using a combination of speed and accuracy.
The Reading section focuses on 40 questions to be answered in 35 minutes. Here, you can earn a score ranging from 1-36. All the questions are multiple-choice, designed to provide admissions staff with an idea of how you would react to reading comprehension used within the first year of college. You'll be tested on central themes, various ideas, and understanding the phrase and word meanings. You'll also show the difference between facts and opinions.
The English section is 75 minutes long to answer 75 questions. The possible score ranges from 1-36, with more multiple-choice questions. Concepts discussed in this area include different aspects of language, such as the style and tone. You'll show your abilities to look at topic development and how something is organized. You'll also be tested on grammar, punctuation, and how sentences are laid out.
In the Science section, you'll have 35 minutes to answer 40 different questions, with a similar range of 1-36 for a final score. All questions are multiple-choice and demonstrate how well you can evaluate, reason, and use problem-solving in a science course. Subjects covered include biology, chemistry, the Earth, and physics.
If you've opted to choose the ACT Plus Writing, you'll have an additional 40 minutes to answer one question in essay format on the Writing section. This essay can be graded anywhere from 2-12 points. The essay question presents a topic with three different perceptions. You'll choose a response that best describes your belief and use the information present to compare that with another one of the perspectives described. This section allows you to show your grasp of the English language and how well you can communicate in written format.

Jeffry: Milwaukee ACT course instructor
"Any fool can know. The point is to understand." -Albert Einstein... To date, I have found that it is best to view tutoring as a team endeavor. I am a player on a student's team with the goal of academic success and increased intellectual understanding. This outcome is impossible without getting down to the student's level, utilizing age appropriate vocabulary, providing constructive criticism, and establishing their baseline. I have found that reviewing a student's past work can provide me a quick glimpse into their tendencies and trends and may help to expedite their tutoring experience. I have also found that students who seek to succeed, more often do so than those who are forced to partake in tutoring sessions by their parents or guardians. Towards this end, I seek to converse with a student honestly about their motivation to pursue tutoring services and act accordingly. An unmotivated student may require some help to see how their goals in life actually do require successful completion and understanding of a particular subject. A motivated student may require support to overcome the obstacle that is holding them back, or the guidance necessary to achieve their desired aims.
