How can a Minneapolis GRE course help me learn?
The GRE is a three-part examination. Test-takers are given 3 hours and 45 minutes to complete these three sections. The first portion of the GRE is the Analytical Writing section. This portion of the GRE features two tasks and gives students 1 hour to complete them. The highest score an individual can receive on this section is a six, with the lowest being a zero. The first task, which students are given 30 minutes to complete, is to analyze an issue. Then, students are given another 30 minutes to analyze an argument. The Analytical Writing section looks to see how a student commands written English, how they maintain a focused and coherent discussion, how they examine claims, and how they support ideas with reasoning.
The second section of the GRE is the Verbal Reasoning portion. This portion contains two sections, each containing 20 questions. Test-takers are given 1 hour to complete this section and are scored on a scale of 130 to 170. When preparing for the Verbal Reasoning section, expect to see reading comprehension, text completion, and sentence equivalence questions. These questions assess a variety of academic skills, such as summarizing passages, reaching conclusions when given partial information, reasoning about a whole from its parts, evaluating a passage, and more.
The third section of the GRE is Quantitative Reasoning. This section takes 1 hour and 10 minutes to complete and features two sections of 20 questions. The highest a test-taker can achieve on this section is a 170, with the lowest potential score being a 130. The Quantitative Reasoning section assesses an individual's basic math skills, their understanding of math concepts, and their ability to use logical reasoning and problem-solving skills. Your Minneapolis GRE class can help you prepare for the Quantitative Reasoning section by going over arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis. Your class can also help you better understand how to answer Quantitative comparison questions, multiple choice questions, and numeric entry questions.
Students should also know that they may have an Experimental section or a Research section on their GRE. Both sections are unscored and are used to try out questions for possible future use. The Experimental section is mixed in with the Verbal or Quantitative Reasoning sections and is not identified. The Research section, on the other hand, comes at the end of the test. It is marked and optional.

I strongly believe that understanding concepts is just as important as being able to work out technical problems, and that all students (regardless of perceived mathematical intelligence) have the ability to do so. I also understand how mathematics functions to gatekeep some students from certain majors and jobs later in life, and it is my hope that I can help provide access to these majors and jobs for the students whom I tutor.
