Getting ready to take the MCAT can feel as nerve-racking as signing up for a marathon at the beginning, but we are here to help you through the process. When you register for an Orlando MCAT course, you gain access to review courses which are live, interactive, and taught by educators who are prepared to help you prepare to do your personal best on the MCAT. The more you know going into the test, the more likely you are to feel confident. A course can help you to understand the ways in which the MCAT sections are organized. Let's take a moment to learn more about the specific structure of the test.
What are the topics that an Orlando MCAT class can help me to study?
You can become more familiar with the MCAT's sections in an Orlando MCAT class. The sections are Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems, Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills, Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems, and Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior. You will be allotted a total of 6 hours and 15 minutes to take the exam. This may seem like a lot of time at first, but it will be important to practice answering questions with accuracy and efficiency as you are studying for the test.
During the Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems section, you will be asked 59 questions, which are divided into 10 passage-based question sets and 15 stand-alone questions. You will have 95 minutes to complete this part of the test. These sections focus on the ways in which organ systems function, as well as key principles of chemistry and physics in the human body and other living organisms. For this section, it will be helpful to study the ways in which physics and chemistry relate to the biochemical and physical functions of the human body.
When you take the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills section, you will be asked 53 questions, which are divided into 9 question sets based on humanities and social sciences passages. You will be given 90 minutes to complete this section of the exam. These questions will focus on your skills in analysis, verbal reasoning, and reading comprehension. Helpful concepts to study prior to taking this part of the test include identifying relationships between parts of a passage, applying passages to other contexts, and drawing inferences based on passages.
In the Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems section, you will be asked 59 questions, including questions based on 10 passages as well as 15 independent questions over the course of 95 minutes. The topics in this section will focus on the fundamental aspects of biology and biochemistry. General chemistry and organic chemistry will also be tested in this section.
Last, you will also be asked 59 questions in the Physical, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior section. You will have 95 minutes to complete this portion of the test. This will include questions based on 10 passages as well as 15 stand-alone questions. This part of the test will assess your knowledge of biology and introductory psychology and sociology. Helpful topics to study for this part of the exam include human behavior, the ways in which diverse cultural and social backgrounds affect health, the effects of psychosocial factors on mental health, and the ways in which access to resources affects mental and physical well-being.
How can an Orlando MCAT course help me to study?
MCAT courses are offered online, in a format that is similar to a classroom course structure. When you sign up for an Orlando MCAT course, you have the ability to select between a 2-week and a 4-week course based on what suits your personal schedule. New courses start on a weekly basis, so it's easy for you to start a course at the time that feels best for you.
There are multiple benefits to taking an online course. For example, an MCAT course features a collaborative format that gives you the ability to review topics with other students in the class. Learning with peers can strengthen comprehension of subjects. Furthermore, learning in an interactive structure gives you the opportunity to ask questions, which further cultivates your learning process. And because the courses are all online, you can learn from whatever location works best for you, from your favorite neighborhood coffee shop to your bedroom study desk.
