Get the balanced learning experience you need to prepare for the United States Medical Licensing Exams by signing up for a San Antonio USMLE prep program arranged by Varsity Tutors. If you're an aspiring doctor looking to practice medicine in the United States, you'll need to pass the USMLE before you can receive your license. This series of exams is one of the more challenging assessments prospective doctors will experience during their professional journey which is why even students from institutions like the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio seem additional instruction when preparing for it. If you'd like additional assistance designed to help you with the USMLE, enrolling in a San Antonio USMLE prep class or working with private tutors is one of the most effective ways to study.
What concepts will be covered during San Antonio USMLE prep?
The USMLE is a comprehensive series of exams that looks at everything you encounter throughout your time as a medical student. Topics like Social Sciences, Skin and Subcutaneous Tissue, and the Renal and Urinary System are just a few of the items covered on these tests. Regardless of which prep program you enroll in, you'll cover all of the important concepts that'll appear on the assessment. Let's look more closely at how the USMLE is structured.
There are three sections to the USMLE which are known as Steps. Each Step covers a different general topic, and as a whole, all three Steps cover all the scientific and medical concepts learned throughout medical school.
Step 1 is a single multiple-choice exam that evaluates your knowledge of various basic scientific concepts and how they relate to practicing medicine. For Step 2, you'll be given two separate assessments that look at your knowledge and understanding of clinical practices. The first portion of the exam is a multiple-choice test on your Clinical Knowledge, and the second part is a practical assessment of Clinical Skills. It's common for students to struggle with the Clinical Skills part of the test due to its fast-paced nature. For that part of Step 2, you'll be required to attend to 12 different patients. You have 15 minutes for every patient you see, and an additional 10 minutes per-patient for making medical notes. During this time, you'll be evaluated on a number of areas, including Communication and Interpersonal Skills, Integrated Clinical Encounter, and even your command of spoken English.
Finally, there's Step 3. In order to take this part of the USMLE, you first need to pass Steps 1 and 2. Step 3 is broken into two assessments and uses a mixture of multiple-choice and computer-based simulations to see how you respond in various scenarios and how well you apply your knowledge and training. This part of the licensing exam is used to predict how well you can work in an unsupervised environment.
What are the benefits of the different types of San Antonio USMLE prep?
If you enjoy working in a classroom setting where you follow the pace set by an instructor, you could benefit from a San Antonio USMLE prep course. These study sessions are conducted completely online, using video chat, virtual whiteboards, and other tools on our Live Learning Platform. This study method is great for everyone who enjoys working in groups, as you're always given the opportunity to collaborate with classmates as you review concepts and prepare for the USMLE.
The other option is to study with a San Antonio USMLE tutor in a private, one-on-one setting. This type of learning is great for people who want to spend extra time focusing on specific elements of the test. Your tutor can design lessons with your needs in mind, incorporating elements from your personality and preferred learning style into the curriculum to make the learning experience more enjoyable. On top of that, your tutor is able to work with you at a time that suits your schedule, making it a very convenient way you can prepare for the assessment.

I like to be creative and adapt to the learning style of a student. My goal is to make learning fun and never feel like a chore.... Adapt to what kind of learning the student best responds to; that way learning is fun and easy going, and never frustrating.... Get to know each other a bit, in order to know how to approach each topic the best way possible.... I think making different suggestions on how I taught myself, the material could bring some insight to someone in how to go about understanding the topic.
