SAT Subject Test in German with Listening Tutoring FAQ
Have you developed exceptional German language skills throughout your high school career that you would like to show off to admissions committees as you apply to college? Earning stellar scores on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) Subject Test in German with Listening can add an impressive factor to your applications. This test quantitatively analyzes your skills and knowledge to give schools an idea of how your mastery of German compares to that of the top high school students around the country. Excelling on this exam, however, can prove quite difficult, even for exceptional language students. The exam requires you to demonstrate your understanding of basic concepts you may have learned years ago as well as more complex material with which you may be struggling in your current classes. The listening section significantly influences your overall score and can add an additional challenge if you have focused mostly on reading and writing in your German language education. Instead of wasting time and energy trying to figure out how to best approach your review, work with an experienced German language instructor to develop and implement a focused study plan that addresses the specific concepts you most need to study.
Varsity Tutors can help you to connect with SAT German tutors who can provide you with custom-tailored, one-on-one instruction. The educational directors are able to help you create a personal student profile that allows potential tutors to identify their own ability to help you. Your profile will allow them to view your learning style, as well as see your German instruction history, current concerns, and testing dates. With a timetable in mind, your tutor will use the study plan to ensure that you are able to achieve your testing goals.
Your tutoring experience can be custom-tailored to address your particular combination of strengths, weaknesses, and concerns, providing a review that fits your specific academic needs. Your educational director can begin to tailor your experience by helping you select your instructor based on your profile. When you begin working with your tutor, he or she can analyze your current mastery of the German language in the context of the material covered on the SAT Subject Test. They can then design a test prep plan that focuses on just the particular topics and skills that you will most benefit from improving.
As you work through your personalized lesson plans in individual tutoring sessions, you can have your instructor's complete attention; this means that you can receive immediate answers to your questions, instant feedback on your work, and advice to help you build upon your strengths and address any negative test-taking habits. Your tutor can also help you bolster your listening abilities for your exam by acting as a conversationalist. They can make instant corrections to any phrasing, pronunciations, and any other mistakes that may arise while you practice. This can be beneficial to keeping you on the road to success while allowing you the freedom to make mistakes. You won't fall behind other students nor will you interrupt the class as a whole.
Your tutoring sessions can easily be arranged around your schedule, however busy you may be. Your tutor can travel to meet you at your home or any other location, whether it's in the morning, afternoon, or evening. Further, you can request face-to-face online tutoring through the live learning platform. Recent SAT Subject Test in German with Listening Tutoring Session Notes
The student scored a 31 on his Reading practice test from homework, an improvement of 11 points! Woo! We dove into the Science section today, discussing the different ways to interpret data visually and how to make inferences from the "dueling opinions" studies. The student also took a Science practice test, which we'll grade next time.
The student and I went over English again today. She is on pace to get a 28 in the English Section. We then did Math for the rest of the session. I timed her doing 6 minute intervals, and then we would go over those 6 problems. I assigned her an entire test for (what I believe to be) our last session next week.
We reviewed the student's reading comprehension homework and went over some synonyms she had worked on last time. Then we moved on to analogies-- I let her work on ten at a time alone and then we'd review. I assigned a few more analogies, as well as some math problems, for homework.
Worked on creative writing for the essay. Reviewed strategies from the prep book and practiced substituting action verbs for passive and identifying and relating abstract ideas with concrete illustrations. The student had five minutes to come up with a thesis and two examples for various prompts, and will do 25min essays for these prompts that we'll review on Wednesday.
Worked with the student on More Distractors in Reading, Advanced Math concepts, and two passages in English. Performed well, but needs to go over certain concepts more to get them right 100% of the time. Had a 2nd one hour session to go over math mistakes and more reading passages.
