Algebra 3/4 Tutoring FAQ
A third or fourth year of algebra may seem like an impossible or superfluous requirement after studying the basics of algebraic syntax and operations in previous courses. It may seem as if there could be little else to learn about the subject; however, this is not the case. Knowledge of advanced algebraic principles is universally useful when studying mathematics, as well as in many of the sciences. Your advanced algebra course can help you augment your understanding of algebra's most complex mathematical manipulations, helping you to prepare for rigorous future studies in mathematics and science. Don't struggle through the difficult topics being covered in your course. Contact Varsity Tutors today to discuss the algebra 3 and algebra 4 tutoring options available near you. We are happy to help you find an experienced tutor in your area who can assist you in reaching proficiency in advanced algebra while overcoming your academic hurdles.
Perhaps you are struggling with the difficulties of analytic geometry, the complexities of matrix math, or the solutions of complex polynomials. Maybe you would merely like some help with the fundamentals of algebraic computation. No matter what your current algebra difficulties, personal advanced algebra tutoring can help you master the rigors of your current mathematical studies. Drawing on his or her experience in teaching, your tutor can help you pinpoint your problem areas. Given the years of accumulated knowledge that you have gained, it is no surprise that you might need to review the foundational topics covered in earlier classes. Often this will be all that you need to make quick progress in your current studies. Who better than a knowledgeable educator to help you discover and address such problem areas before moving on to clarify the particular problems that are giving you difficulties in your current studies? Even the best of students can benefit from the able guidance of a tutor, particularly in a class that encompasses as many subjects as does an advanced algebra course. This class may present your sole opportunity to focus on these important foundational concepts as a group before they become part of the background knowledge that will be required for your future studies.
Whether you find yourself struggling to keep up with the complex and fast-moving material presented in your algebra lectures, or mathematics is your passion and you want to master a number of mathematical concepts, Varsity Tutors can assist you in finding a tutor that suits your needs, academic goals, and learning styles. Recent Algebra 3/4 Tutoring Session Notes
The student started summer school yesterday and already has a test tomorrow on Chapter 2 material. We reviewed functions - inverse functions, completing the square, finding the vertex of parabolas, and formulas for transposed functions.
We needed to do a little catch up because of the first two weeks we missed. We reviewed the following topics: solving systems with 3 variables and solving systems of inequalities with 2 variables by graphing. After going over the material, he retook a quiz and redid a homework assignment and brought his grade up. We will continue meeting twice per week.
Covered some topics for Math 3 as the student goes into his junior year, as well as went over Math section of the PSAT and how to use it as a study guide. We discussed possible areas to focus on in future sessions and went over some principles from Math 2 that the student indicated he would like to review.
We went over a study guide and some extra questions to prepare her for her quiz which covers 3 sections of the first chapter. The material was mostly word problems involving percentages, ratios, cross products, fractions, graphs, and charts that had finance applications. She made good progress on several questions that she had difficulty with. When given variations of similar problems, she was able to solve them towards the end of the session. I believe she is prepared for her quiz and should perform well. In the end, I suggested her to review examples from the book because they have good explanations for very similar problems given in class.
We went over the exercise notes in his algebra class covering combination and permutation, as well as theoretical and experimental probability. He already understood them well so I just helped him with summarizing them and making them systematic.
Student 1 and I went over how to use Pascal's triangle to expand binomials. She had some trouble initially but after practicing, she understood the concept better! Student 2 and I started looking at geometric proofs and understanding definitions and justifications.
