If you're looking to become a licensed medical professional, let Varsity Tutors help you get ahead through one of their comprehensive St. Louis USMLE prep programs. Students from across the country have admitted that the USMLE is one of the most comprehensive and challenging exams they've taken. Even people who've attended top schools like Washington University School of Medicine and Saint Louis University School of Medicine have struggled with some of the content covered on this assessment, which is why many aspiring doctors have enrolled in a study program for extra assistance.
What concepts will be covered during St. Louis USMLE prep?
The United States Medical Licensing Exams, or USMLE for short, is a compilation of three different exams known as Steps. Each Step looks at different skills and when combined, all three Steps encompass all the skills one should be proficient in before practicing medicine. Because the St. Louis USMLE preparation programs are designed to help with gaining a medical license, they'll cover all the Steps present on the exam. Let's look at each of those sections a little more closely.
The first Step looks at basic scientific concepts that you'll draw upon while working in medicine. Step 2 looks at your clinical knowledge and how well you're able to solve problems in a clinical setting. It's important that you do well in Step 1 and 2, otherwise, you won't be eligible to take the final test, Step 3. For Step 3, you'll be given a two-part assessment looking at how well you can apply medical principles and basic scientific concepts in a real-world setting. The first part of Step 3 consists of multiple-choice questions, while the second portion is a mixture of multiple-choice and computer-based assessments.
What are the benefits of the different types of St. Louis USMLE prep?
We offer two different methods of St. Louis USMLE prep: enrolling in a virtual course or working with a private tutor. Both can give you the hands-on experience and practical knowledge needed to prepare for the exam, but the two programs are very different in nature.
If you're someone who enjoys collaboration and working with peers, you might want to consider enrolling in the St. Louis USMLE prep class. Here, you'll prepare for the material covered on the test under the leadership of a qualified instructor. Lessons are conducted in a virtual classroom and are carried out with the use of video chats and online whiteboards through our Live Learning Platform. This method of instruction gives you the opportunity to interact with your instructor, receiving feedback and extra assistance when needed. You can also collaborate with other students preparing for the USMLE, which is great for sharing ideas and study tips, as well as reviewing the material as a class.
The other option you can choose with the St. Louis USMLE prep course is to work with a private tutor which we can help set you up with. This can help you benefit from a focused, laser-targeted study program designed specifically for you. Because you're the only person working with your private instructor, they have extra time to help you overcome your weaknesses or prepare for specific elements in the tests. This means you can work with an instructor to improve your communication and interpersonal skills, or prepare for the Integrated Clinical Encounter portion of the Step 2 assessment, while completely skipping past the concepts you already know.
Choosing the right prep program depends on your goals and expectations. If you're someone who enjoys learning in a classroom setting, but you want more flexibility than you receive in traditional instruction, check out the virtual classes. This will allow you to work from anywhere, provided you have internet access. Plus, there are a number of time slots you choose from and new courses open at the beginning of every month. If you need a personal study program that's been built specifically for you, a private tutor is one of the most effective ways to prepare.
How do I get set up with St. Louis USMLE prep?
Now that we've talked about the benefits of the course, let's look at how you can get started. Once you're ready to prepare for the exams, give Varsity Tutors a call and ask for more information about the St. Louis USMLE prep opportunities. One of our educational consultants will be happy to answer any questions you have. They can even enroll you in one of the virtual prep courses or help you find a private tutor who's able to work around your busy schedule.
