Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Courtney in Berkeley, CA
Both boys were present for this session. For Spanish, we made and reviewed new flashcards (Student A: free time vocab, Student B: -er and -ir regular verbs). We discussed their computer class and ways to raise their grades. I had Student B work on conjugations for the new verbs. He also took notes from the Biology PP to study for his upcoming exam. Student A completed a Spanish worksheet, and created a worksheet in his notebook to use the new vocab.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Son in Berkeley, CA
The student and I went over chapter 11 to prepare for his test this coming week. We went over all 5 sections, did about 7 example problems from each section (in addition to his assigned hw problems) and then made a study guide out of them to prepare for his final. We then switched over to biology and I assigned him 3 lectures from many weeks back for him to go over and make study guides for to prep for his final. We then planned out the week in his calendar to make sure he is aware of all the important assignments and tests/quizzes.

The student seems to be improving in most of his classes and has been doing a better job of turning in his assignments on time. We spent time reviewing his recent assignments and practicing solving algebraic equations with factoring, and reviewing the differences between linear, quadratic, and cubic polynomial expressions and their corresponding graphs.

Tonight we reviewed the student's literature project. I recommended that he add a section about literary devices so he researched this aspect and added it to his project. We then reviewed the study guide for his literature exam which is Monday. He needs to finish his literature essay and project by Friday. He has his literature final on Monday as well as his Spanish final. We are going to meet on Monday to study for his science and history finals which are Tuesday.

Today, the student and I focused on math. He recently had a quiz, so we went over the material covered on that. It had to do with factoring and polynomials. We also reviewed his math homework for the next 2 days. We ended by reviewing his Spanish homework.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Sarika in Berkeley, CA
I looked at the student's work from last semester and looked at the syllabus for the second semester. I got him started on the first topic of polynomials, which the teacher is going to cover in the first week back. We covered what is a polynomial (or not), leading term, degree, standard form of a polynomial, operations of addition, subtraction and multiplication of polynomials, Pascal's triangle and how to expand a binomial using Pascal's triangle, etc. In the later part, we worked on the math portion of the ACT test.
