Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Linda in Syracuse, NY
The student is studying for an upcoming test in Spanish class. He has the words entered on flashcards and I used them to quiz him. He informed me he just got the word list a few days ago. After going over these words several times, he ended up with an overall score of 75%. He is also reading a novel and needs to have it completed by Monday. He is almost done with it now so that should be no problem.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Melissa in Syracuse, NY
The student already seems more confident now that she has a new planner to keep track of her assignments. She had nearly everything for the week written down in the relevant dates and she even has a system of sticky notes for the important upcoming tasks and assignments that she is worried she might forget. After ensuring that she was organized and aware of all upcoming assignments, we moved on to talk about math. She has her math re-test coming up so we reviewed what she missed on the original test. I then helped her understand the new topic from the video lesson the night before and she worked on her homework.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Caitlyn in Syracuse, NY
Today went fairly well - the student wrote up a lab report, and then we planned out what we will be working on next Monday (a revision of the Scarlet Ibis paper we wrote a few weeks back). She shared that she's nervous about the literary homework, as it doesn't come as easily as math and science do, so I'm glad we got a bit of time to pre-plan so that next time we can do a really good job and I can show her how to make it an easier process.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Nicole in Syracuse, NY
During this session, we discussed the student's World Cultures homework. He did a great job making connections with this assignment. He does need to improve his reading speed, and I will work on that with him in the next couple of weeks. I went over the importance of note-taking with him again. He said that he will start taking notes in class to form this good habit. I explained to him how organization helps recall and speed while completing assignments. Overall this was a good session and I know we are on a path for improvement.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Joseph in Syracuse, NY
We reviewed that night's homework assignment: reading the passage and drafting 15 written responses to 15 question prompts. The student said he had a test the following day. He stated that on the practice test, he correctly answered 23 out of 25 questions correct (92%). He remembered the question type with which he had trouble correctly solving (converting repeating decimals into fractions), and he correctly solved several of these types of problems before the conclusion of the session. An essay for English class is due some time next week. This essay will be one of the many goals for the next several sessions.
