After graduating, I went to Michigan Technological University and did some graduate work, before moving to Texas to be closer to my parents. I did my alternative certification program through Texas Teachers and am highly qualified to teach Science for grades 7-12. I have been a teacher in public and charter schools for the last four years, and have tutoring experience extending over ten years behind me as well. I am most passionate about teaching because I love seeing people learn, grow, and become problem solvers and leaders of the future. It's hugely rewarding for me whenever someone changes their mind about a subject, displays interest in continuing to study something related to what we've worked on together, or simply becomes proud of their academic improvement and success. My approach to teaching anything involves first engaging with the student, then making sure they have a strong foundation before reinforcing anything that they're struggling on. I love to make learning fun and interactive, because we all retain more of what we learn when we enjoy it. I hope to reach many more students with my infectious enthusiasm as the years go by.

Aside from academic interests (which include taking online classes, learning new languages, and reading research papers in my fields of interest), I have a wide variety of hobbies. I love to sing, play the piano, draw, paint, make jewelry write poetry and prose, and do martial arts. I also love to travel when I get the chance, and have been to all but three U.S. states, and have traveled to 9 other countries to date. I am also very passionate about microfinance and have worked on multiple initiatives to help pull people out of poverty and give them the means to establish their own businesses. Last, but certainly not least, I enjoy exploring nature any way I can and photograph whatever I come across. It's my greatest source of peace.
