If you're looking for assistance in preparing yourself to take the LSAT, Varsity Tutors can assist you with finding a Tampa LSAT class that could help you maximize your chances of performing your best on the test. The Law School Admission Test is the only test that's accepted for admissions by all ABA-accredited law schools, so you're likely going to be one of hundreds of students taking the test in hopes of getting a high enough score to earn acceptance at the Levin College of Law or the Stetson University College of Law. Whether you were a top student in your undergraduate work at the University of South Florida or the University of Tampa, your LSAT score can make a big difference in your profile for law school. It has the potential to either strengthen an already solid profile or help you improve a less-than-stellar profile by proving to admissions officers that you can do the work.
The LSAT is a difficult, comprehensive test that consists of five sections, and with so many students taking the test each year, it's important to reach for a score that can help you stand out from the pack. If you're struggling to make sure you're ready for this important test, Varsity Tutors can help match you with a Tampa LSAT course that meets your needs and gives you the opportunity to prepare yourself in a way that works for you. No matter what your schedule is, we can help you find a course that works with it.
What should I expect to cover in a Tampa LSAT prep course?
The LSAT is a five-section exam that is designed to test the skills that you'll need to excel in law school. Your test will consist of one Reading Comprehension section, one Analytical Reasoning section, one Writing section and two Logical Reasoning sections. Let's take a more in-depth look at what you're going to face when you take your test.
The Reading Comprehension section consists of questions related to your ability to understand complex texts and infer their meaning, similar to what lawyers have to do when they cite settled law in the courtroom. You'll have 35 minutes to tackle this section, and you'll be answering questions about the passage's main idea, analogies in the piece, the author's attitude, and other important details.
In the Analytical Reasoning section, you'll be tested on your ability to understand relationships between two or more different statements or hypotheticals, and you'll have to use those statements to figure out other ideas that must be true based off of those statements. This section will focus on your ability to take in information and reach a reasoned and informed conclusion, and you'll have 35 minutes to finish it.
The Logical Reasoning section consists of two different sections, so you'll have 70 minutes total to answer questions in this area. This section relates entirely to your ability to analyze and critique arguments. Cross-examination and picking apart the other side's testimony is an important ability for any lawyer to have, and you'll need to know how to show you can logically draw conclusions and identify flaws in an argument when you get into law school.
Finally, you'll have 35 minutes to respond to a prompt in the Writing section. This part of the LSAT won't be calculated as part of your final score, but it's by no means optional because it will be sent to every school that you apply to when choosing a program. Here, there isn't a right or wrong answer to concern yourself with. Instead, you'll need to show how well you can defend your choice from two reasonable options, using facts and logic to back up your points.
Whether you think you need assistance on one or more of these sections, a Tampa LSAT course will allow you to prepare yourself in each area of the test, giving you the chance to improve on areas where you don't feel confident and identify aspects that you need to shore up before test day.
How can a Tampa LSAT class help me prepare?
When you opt for an LSAT class, you'll join a collaborative class with other prospective law school students who want to give themselves the best possible chance of joining their dream school's program. During your class, you'll be able to discuss different concepts and strategies for success. Collaborative classes give you multiple perspectives as well as information that you might not have covered in your own law school classes. Your class will also be led by a qualified instructor who has experience in the test's material and format.
One of the best parts of taking an LSAT class is that it works with your schedule. Everyone has busy lives trying to handle all of their responsibilities, and trying to stay on top of them all and make time for studying can seem impossible. Taking an LSAT class puts you in control by allowing you to choose a time that works with your schedule. New classes start weekly, and you'll be able to select either a two-week or four-week course, depending on what works best for you. Classes are also conducted online, so you don't have to worry about meeting a tutor somewhere or taking time out of your day to drive to a classroom. And best of all, if you think you need more personalized instruction, all you have to do is ask your instructor for some one-on-one time.
