Today we used the flash cards online and focused on solving algebraic equations and inequalities. We also worked with basic geometry questions about finding area and circumference. We also spent time going over mean and median of data sets. The student still seems to be struggling with solving inequalities. This was our last session. We did fraction word problems. The student has made huge strides in her ability to add, reduce, multiply, order, and subtract fractions. She was able to complete multi-step fraction-based word problems without assistance. I hope she has a great time in 4th grade math.

Today we covered an introduction to algebra which included writing math expressions from written phrases and coming up with expressions from provided input and output tables. I believe she understands the material; she was able to verbally explain to me her thought process but when she was writing her answers and explanations. It was a good session but we will continue to work on keeping her focus on math and showing her work neatly so that her teacher can read it.

The student and I specifically focused on vocabulary for his upcoming test in today's lesson. I made pretests for him to study and helped him with some of the questions. He did fairly well and I think he will be prepared for tomorrow. I also left him with two exercises for extra practice. In the future, we will start each lesson reviewing his vocabulary.
