Tutoring review by Michael in Bridgeton, MO
This week, we expanded on our practice of solving rational equations. Last we met, we'd only had the chance to work on simple types of problems involving one-term denominators. Today's examples featured binomials and polynomials as denominators, many resulting in quadratic equations.

Yesterday the student and I focused a lot on solids of revolution. We will be practicing those even more since she is definitely getting the hang of them after doing multiple problems. We then covered some related rates problems which we'll be finishing today. I quizzed the student on the equations and theorems she needs to memorize for the test and will be testing her again on them today. Today is the day before the AP test and we'll be going over these last few topics she doesn't feel comfortable with and will do random problems as well.

Today, after starting some geometry, we reverted back to algebra. We covered quadratic equations, learning the equation break up method without using the formula yet. We also started learning about functions and graphs. I have assigned him homework which he will do before the next time we meet.

The student had gotten back his quiz he took on Wednesday. We went over the problems he missed, and I made sure that he understood his errors and what he can do to avoid making them again. We reviewed for his large test, which consisted of mostly past material that he had been graded on, but we went over topics that were a bit confusing to him (simplifying roots and powers, graphing transformations, rationalizing denominators, etc.). He was attentive and engaged during the session.

Tutoring review by Rishi in Bridgeton, MO
We focused on solving problems like a 2 column proof. The student is now able to identify when to use properties of congruence or properties of equality. He can apply theorems and postulates to determine if segments and or angles are congruent and determining missing variables such as segment length or angle measure. He is beginning to understand properties and theorems of angles, when applicable in systems involving parallel lines cut by transversals.
