Today we covered the basics of cellular respiration. The student has a quiz this week on matter and energy, so we devoted a lot of our time studying for that.

The student had homework to do on a chapter section consisting of perpendicular and angle bisectors. He did the exercises he was assigned, and we reviewed them. He seemed comfortable with the work as we progressed and was able to solve some of the problems on his own.

Tutoring review by Olivia in Brooklyn, FL
Today the student and I worked on a homework worksheet that she didn't have to turn in for a grade that she was struggling a little bit with. We built on the concepts we learned during the previous session, which she seemed to have retained quite well, as some new concepts. After we finished that, we continued working on the chapter her class had recently had an exam on, which she did poorly. She seems to be grasping the material well, and is a quick and attentive learner.

Tutoring review by Rachel in Brooklyn, FL
Before our session, the student had done some homework problems on the number "e," graphing exponential functions involving "e," and logarithms. I looked over the work she had done and we went through the problems she didn't fully grasp, mainly involving simplification errors and how to find key points in graphing the functions. She caught on quickly after we talked through a few problems and was able to complete the rest of her homework correctly with little help. After she finished her assigned problems, I gave her a few more functions to practice graphing as well as some additional problems involving logarithms. We also looked over a quiz she had taken (she received a 9/10), and I was able to clarify the concept of "parent functions" that she had gotten wrong on the quiz. She seems a lot more comfortable with the material, especially since she made the switch into a new class. She is very diligent about keeping up with her homework, and it will be beneficial for her to practice more problems when she gets to the end of the unit so she can adequately review.
