Tutoring review by Michael in Fruit Cove, FL
We worked on some units from earlier this year that the student wanted to go over: completing the square, finding maximums and minimums, and a little bit of trigonometry. Her aptitude for the material is good, and we will continue to practice these problems.

Tutoring review by Jeremy in Fruit Cove, FL
Tonight, we specifically reviewed the student's math homework/ new material she has reviewed in class: Multiplying fractions. She had already completed her homework upon arrival; I reviewed through her homework with her, and it was all correct. We did all the sample problems in the book, and she was able to explain to me her thought process for each problem and her rationale for each step she made in completing each problem. I reviewed with her some multiplication of double digits, division of double digits, addition/subtraction of fractions, and fraction simplification. I provided fraction multiplication problems for her, and she successfully completed these as well. I reminded her to simplify her answers the best she can when dealing with fractions. If necessary, she can practice writing out all potential common factors of both the numerator and the denominator in order to be successful in finding the simplified form of the answer. The student has a scheduled math exam on her new material next week. She was a pleasure to work with and did a very good job today. Our new meeting day starting next week will be Tuesdays.

The student and I worked on solving and graphing inequalities. By the end of the session, he knew when to switch the direction of the inequality, whether the graph should have an open or closed circle, and which direction the graph pointed.

Tutoring review by Sam in Fruit Cove, FL
Tonight, the student and I worked with trigonometric identities. We spent the most time working with double-angle identities and power-reduction identities. We began by proving the identities arithmetically and algebraically. Next, we used the identities to simplify complex trigonometric equations and expressions. Finally, we used the identities to solve actual equations. She is very smart, and seems to be gaining confidence and comfort every week. At times, she makes errors while carrying out her arithmetic or algebra, and actually seems more comfortable with the complicated pre-calculus theorems and concepts than she does with factoring and algebra. She is learning to avoid her most common errors, however, and often sees and corrects them before I even have a chance to point them out.

Tutoring review by Kanika in Fruit Cove, FL
Per parents request, I continued review of multiplication facts. The student knows the multiples of 1, 2, 3, 10, and 11 very well. He is showing progress with multiples of 4. If he practices counting by 5s. he will have mastery of the 5 tables very quickly. He was taught that multiplication is repeated addition. In that respect, he understands and has mastery of the concept of multiplication. I believe a lot of positive reinforcement and a reminder of what he can do will really help him to perform better at school.
