Tutoring review by Patrice in Bryan, TX
We covered stoichiometry extensively and writing reaction equations. At the onset, the student didn't know what diatomic particles were, the different types of reactions, or how to balance equations. By the end of our session, she was tying all of the concepts together to complete her review sheet!

Tutoring review by Luke in Bryan, TX
On Tuesday, we primarily covered factoring polynomials. We discussed a variety of polynomials, including those that could be easily factored, those that had to be factored using systems of equations, and those that were only solvable by the quadratic equation. I helped the student with a variety of techniques for seeing factors more quickly, and he took to them well. He certainly needs to keep practicing to become quicker and more confident, but he did very well in correctly applying the techniques to solve factoring problems. He was able to spot the proper factors for quadratic polynomials in which the leading coefficient is greater than one by testing factors of a quadratic polynomial's constant in his head, which was quite commendable. I suspect that if he continues practicing, he will do quite well with this unit's material. It certainly seemed more natural for him than matrix arithmetic (which is not unusual, of course, considering that most people are only rarely exposed to the concepts of matrices). He also seemed to be in improved spirits after having a break from school, which was almost certainly helpful.

Tutoring review by Liban in Bryan, TX
Went over the study guide for the final. The student needed a little help with interpreting sinusoids and graphing them. I showed him models with all coefficients identified and interpreted. We did some practice working with trig functions, including graphing them, identifying period, amplitude, and shifts. He picked up the material rather quick and was able to do all the work efficiently. We then worked on quadratics including transformations and shifts. I showed him how to complete the square and had him practice with it until he felt comfortable with the process. We then went over the vertex form produced and identified/interpreted all coefficients involved. He takes his final on Friday.

Tutoring review by Jerilynn in Bryan, TX
We reviewed finding the values of various trigonometric functions using the unit circle, particularly the secant and cosecant functions, by taking the reciprocal of the cosine and sine functions. We also reviewed negative angles and angles formed by multiple revolutions. We practiced sketching a graph and writing a sinusoidal function from a word problem. Lastly, we looked through several of the student's old quizzes and worksheets and looked at the problems that she lost points on. She is doing better with the trigonometric functions now that she knows how they all relate to the sine or cosine functions, and she is doing well writing the equation of a sinusoidal function from a graph.
