Tutoring review by Eric in Monongahela, PA
Today the student reviewed and corrected her exam before the holiday break. The exam entailed all the previous material from earlier sessions on congruence, right triangles, indirect proofs, and solving for missing variables. We focused on the reviews she made when answering the questions. I did this to exemplify the notion that if an answer doesn't make sense, it may need to be reevaluated. She informed me that she had made flashcards to help prepare for the exam. I asked that she continue using the flashcards as a study aid and to make more as new concepts are introduced. She mentioned that she is understanding the most recent topic covered, which is quadrilaterals.

I met with the student to help him prepare for his math final. We discussed how listening to music could help him focus on the material and tried an exercise to see how he worked while listening to music. It worked out rather well. We reviewed multiplication and division of fractions and decimals. I reminded him to slow down when he works. I also worked with him on remembering to carry the decimal places throughout the problem. I gave him a short, timed exercise to see how he works under pressure, and he did very well.

Tutoring review by Gabriel in Monongahela, PA
The student learned new things today which included fruits and vegetables in Spanish such as sandia for watermelon and manzana for apple. He did very well at remembering these when we reviewed them. He also did well when we reviewed colors such as azul (blue), rojo (red) and verde (green). When I asked him, for example, what color his blue plants were in Spanish he replied with azul (blue). He is a very fast and sharp young boy. Today we also reviewed his numbers 1-10 and he proved that he learned them very well. If I ask him how many objects there are in a picture with five candles he knows it's cinco (five). He has so much more Spanish to learn and I am excited to keep teaching him.

Tutoring review by Corbin in Monongahela, PA
For this session, the student and I focused on preparing for his upcoming quiz on Thursday. We covered multiple areas, including multiplying and dividing exponents, order of operations, some scientific notation, as well as simplifying rational expressions. To further prepare for his quiz, I gave him my own quiz, with him missing only five questions out of 20. We then worked out the problems that he missed and some additional problems. I purposely gave him problems on a more difficult level so that easier problems would be second nature to him. He seemed to struggle most on dividing exponents and simplifying. We practiced numerous examples of this type, and by the end of the session, he was solving them with ease.
