We discussed a variety of problems from the students review package. We applied the definite integral to volume, worked problems that required integration by substitution, and trigonometric substitution. The student is very attentive.

Today we went over functions and rational functions. We worked on graphing rational functions, finding asymptotes, and finding zeros of rational functions. We also focused on how to extract the equation from a graph of a rational function. The student did not struggle much with the material, as he's able to quickly grasp the concepts once I explain them. As always, he was very positive about the material and the session. He also has enough extra problems to attempt on his own. He mentioned that he scored a 95/100 on his test last Tuesday. That was quite great to hear.

The student and I worked on logarithmic functions and anything that has to do with them. We started with graphing the functions. She needs to work on determining the domain and range of functions just given the equations. We also worked on exponential growth and interest. She understands the equations but needs to slow down and make sure she plugs the numbers into the correct locations.

For today's session, we reviewed factoring binomials, which the student displayed great understanding of. He should have no problem doing these types of problems next year! We then moved on to solving radicals, where he struggled a little in the beginning but began to form a conceptual understanding after a few problems. We will continue with more problems next session and move onto multiplying and dividing radicals.

The session went well! We discussed applications of biomechanics in the exercise that the student was putting together. He had everything down for the most part and just needed some help and explanation in terms of why the body moved or acted in certain ways. He's going to ponder on the things we worked together on and we'll continue with his notes for next time!

Tutoring review by Felicia in Palmetto, FL
This afternoon's session began with the student and I looking at her math homework from the day at school which was the focus of the session; multiplication with money, one, two and three digits. She worked on her math homework problems which were one page in her math book; odd numbers only. I checked all of the problems which she got right all except the math word problem which was of the same concept as the others. She has difficulty with math word problems. I told her to underline the clue words in the problem because this word or words will tell you exactly which mathematical operation to use to solve the problem. We then worked on some multiplication with money problems which I had for her. She got all of those correct as well. The next session will be on the 10th for 5th grade Reading. Today's session went very well.
