When it's time to begin thinking about the law school application process, it may be a good idea to sign up for Boston LSAT preparation provided by Varsity Tutors. The LSAT, or Law School Admissions Test, is one of the important factors law school admissions officers look at when deciding whether to accept you into their program. Therefore, performing well on the exam could impact whether or not you get into the school of your choice.
There are many prestigious local law schools in the Boston area such as Harvard Law School, Boston University School of Law, and Boston College Law School. Whether you are a current college student or a working professional, your exam prep could benefit from assistance. No matter if you are planning ahead or in the middle of preparation and in need of a boost, prep services provided Varsity Tutors could be just what you need to find your full potential.
What subject areas can Boston LSAT prep help me to better understand?
The LSAT is made up of five sections: Writing, Reading Comprehension, Analytical Reasoning, and two Logical Reasoning sections. Each section covers a variety of areas and tests a number of skills that you must possess in order to succeed in future law school classes. Each section also lasts for 35 minutes. The exam is administered on personal electronic tablets that will be provided for you at your testing center.
The Writing section does not receive a concrete score and is taken separately from the rest of the exam. You are presented with a prompt that includes a decision problem and two possible positions. You are asked to make your choice and defend it. You are given one year from your completion of the rest of the exam to take the Writing section on a secure online platform. A copy of your composition is sent to each law school that you apply for.
The Reading Comprehension section is designed to evaluate your ability to read and understand long, complex blocks of text that are similar to those you will encounter in law school. Questions regarding these texts cover things like the meaning of certain words and phrases and applying the information provided to new situations.
In the Analytical Writing section, you are tested on your ability to understand the structure of certain relationships and draw conclusions regarding them. Among the skills you are asked to display are your abilities to use logic and context to determine what could or must be true from a set of provided facts.
The Logical Reasoning sections provide you with a variety of sources, such as newspapers, magazines, and scholarly publications, and ask you to analyze and complete arguments that are contained within. You will need to use reason to come to conclusions regarding these arguments and show how you arrived at your position.
Our prep services can help you cover all of these subject areas and more.
What are the different types of Boston LSAT prep that are offered, and what are the benefits to each?
The two main categories of services that are offered by Varsity Tutors are prep courses and private instruction. There are distinct benefits that you can receive from each of these approaches, and some students even choose to combine them and get the best of both worlds. Your preferred learning style can help decided which is the right choice for you.
When you sign up to participate in a Boston LSAT prep course, you will take part in classroom instruction that is similar to the school environment that you have been a part of most of your life. The biggest difference is that sessions are held entirely online. You will meet with your instructor and fellow classmates in a virtual setting to experience group discussions and activities that will provide you with a variety of perspectives on the material.
Your Boston LSAT prep class can be accessed anywhere that you find yourself with a reliable internet connection, providing flexibility to go with the structured format and instruction. Along with covering the relevant material, your class can share ideas on how to go into the test with confidence and what strategies you can apply to get through particularly difficult portions. As part of your class, you also get the opportunity to spend some one-on-one time with your instructor to address your specific needs.
If individual instruction is how you learn best, you might instead consider working directly with an expert Boston LSAT tutor. This type of private instruction allows you to take part in lessons that are tailored to your strengths and weaknesses. Tutors can take the time to first evaluate your predominant learning style and needs and then customize their lesson plans and study sessions to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
If you have some of the material already mastered, your private instructor won't waste time covering that area and will instead move on to areas where you have more room for improvement. At any time, you can address personal concerns you have heading into the test and receive feedback on the progress you are making.
Each of these prep services has its own benefits, but we can help you choose the best path, including taking advantage of both options.
How do I sign up to get started with Boston LSAT prep?
As exam day approaches, you want to make sure you are doing everything in your power to give yourself the best chance to succeed. There is no need to go through this process alone. If any of the Boston LSAT prep options offered by Varsity Tutors sound like they could be beneficial to you as you get closer and closer to the exam, don't hesitate to reach out and get started. You can contact our educational consultants online or by phone. They are able to answer any questions that you may have and get you signed up for the services you need. With a little assistance, you can reach for your academic goals.

I recommend a core set of materials, provide encouragement throughout the studying process, and keep data on progress to best support a student through her training. Typically, one only takes the LSAT once, maybe twice. That means that you get one 3 month period to prepare. Don't be caught 2 months in feeling like you could have made more progress had you approached studying differently. Get support from someone who's...

I am a passionate science educator with experience teaching high school students, college students, and adults. I like to teach by building frameworks of understanding with my students, and make sure to treat each case individually.... Every student is different. Instead of covering everything taught in the class, I prefer to focus on problem areas.... I believe that learning is a personal process, and the role of a good teacher or tutor is to facilitate and guide the learning experience. Because of this philosophy, I like to push students to grasp concepts as much as possible, instead of focusing on memorization.

The best teaching and learning then, I think, allows us to consider knowledge, from the most practical to the most abstract, as both social exercise and activity.
