Finding the right Boulder SSAT preparation strategy doesn't have to be hard with the help of Varsity Tutors. Boulder SSAT prep can cover subject area content evaluated in all three levels of the exam. Whether you have a child who will be taking the Elementary Level SSAT or a student facing the Upper or Middle Level SSAT, it is essential they have the resources they need to prepare adequately. It can be difficult as a parent to know where to start, which is why it makes sense to look for professionally developed resources and skilled instructors to help you along the way.
Most private and independent schools require SSAT scores as part of the admissions process. While they are not the only consideration, they are considered an accurate reflection of a students competency in grade level reading, verbal, and math concepts. Whether your student needs a quick review of a few skills or a comprehensive review to give them confidence before test day, finding the right prep solution is essential. Continue reading to learn more about the SSAT and how Varsity Tutors can help you give your student the right SSAT prep resources for their learning style and academic needs.
What can Boulder SSAT prep cover?
Verbal, Quantitative, and Reading sections are part of each level of the SSAT, and they are the only portions for which your child will receive a score. However, all of the levels also include a Writing Sample and an Experimental section that is not scored. It's important to note that the Writing Sample will be sent to all of the schools your student will be applying to and admissions officials will review it, so refining their writing technique may need to be included as part of your child's SSAT preparation. The Experimental section is only used by testing officials to develop the exam and will not have any personal impact on your child.
The Quantitative sections cover grade level appropriate math concepts. The Verbal and Reading sections include grade-level appropriate English language concepts and skills. Some of the skills your child may need to review may consist of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, reading comprehension, analogies, synonyms, vocabulary, suffixes, antonyms, prefixes, word roots, parts of speech, making inferences, main idea, author's purpose, data analysis, numbers and operations, probability, ratio and proportion, mean, median, mode, range, and solving for area or perimeter.
There isn't a single Boulder SSAT prep that is perfect for every student. However, there is one that is perfect for your child. You can easily connect with an experienced tutor who can give your child customized instruction or enroll your student in an expertly designed prep course, depending on which option best fits their learning style and academic needs.
How can a Boulder SSAT prep class help my child prepare?
Classes are held in a secure digital learning environment. This type of classroom provides a familiar structure and the convenience of working remotely. You can control the physical space your student is working in to ensure they are able to focus on their studies and don't have to worry about finding additional transportation for them to travel to and from their classes.
When teachers meet with the class, they will deliver instructional information to the group as a whole. They may then spend time facilitating group discussions, assign individual or group projects, or work individually with students who have questions. All of these methods support the integration of the subject area content students are reviewing.
When you enroll your student in a class, you will have the option of two or four-week sessions. This allows you to give your child the amount of support they need to work towards their goal. It also gives them a defined period within which they will have to work diligently. Knowing there is a deadline to complete something is highly motivating for most students.
Don't worry about having to wait weeks or months for a new session to start. Each class is made up of individual sections, and new sections begin every week. Your child will be in their SSAT prep class and preparing for their exam quickly.
A prep class is an excellent choice for students who are energized and motivated by engaging with other students as part of their learning process. It is also ideal for students who would benefit from a comprehensive overview.
How is working with a Boulder SSAT tutor different from taking a prep class?
Working with a private tutor gives your child more one-on-one time with an instructor and allows for more personalized instruction than is possible within a classroom setting. This type of environment means the instructor has more time to get to know your child, their learning style, academic strengths and weaknesses, and specific SSAT goals. This information can then be used to create customized sessions that target your child's specific needs.
Another difference between private SSAT tutoring and classes is in how they are scheduled. Classes must have regular meeting times because of the need to accommodate many students at once. While this is an effective way to make sure the greatest number of students have access to high-quality SSAT prep resources, it isn't always convenient for individual students. Private sessions can be scheduled individually and are available at a greater variety of times. You can schedule sessions on the weekend and throughout the week during regular business hours or in the evening.
Private tutoring is an excellent choice for your child if you know they excel when they receive high-quality one-on-one instruction or if they need greater scheduling flexibility to make prioritizing their SSAT preparation a reality.
How can I get my child started with a Boulder SSAT prep solution?
Varsity Tutors can help you quickly enroll your student in a Boulder SSAT prep course or help you connect them with a skilled SSAT tutor. Regardless of which option you choose, you will be providing your student with the support of an experienced instructor who can help them work towards their learning goals. To get started immediately, contact Varsity Tutors today.

I believe all students can learn. We just need to find the right ways to teach them. Not every student learns in the same way, so it is up to teachers and tutors to help students discover how they learn best. It is often hard to find this out in a classroom of 25 or more students, but with a tutor, students can often find out how they can become lifelong learners and enrich their...

...I am a biology major and neuroscience minor. Science has been my passion from a young age. I like tutoring because I sincerely enjoy helping others and being able to impart my knowledge and experience. Along with being strong in my curricular classes, I have experience helping and tutoring younger students in various subjects and test prep. As a patient and encouraging teacher, I am adept at helping others reach their educational goals.... My teaching philosophy is "work hard, play hard." It may sound childish, but I believe the brain requires balance in everything, including activities. With a strong work ethic, along with support and freedom, the tutor and student will go far.
