Cosmology Tutoring FAQ
At some point, the world of science ends and the world of philosophy begins. You can ask why the universe exists, where it came from, and where it is going. Some answers to these questions occupy precisely scientific quarters, while others delve deep into the philosophy of existence. Perhaps no branch of science is more comfortable being poised on the boundary between these two worlds than cosmology. Cosmology is the study of the universe, which is to say it is the study of reality. Many students of cosmology understandably feel incredibly intimidated by such an expansive, profound field. The discipline is incredibly complex, with some of the most complicated mathematical formulae of any field. It forces you to ask uncomfortable questions and to ponder abstract ideas that can make even the most cerebral students' heads spin with confusion. In fact, cosmology is probably among the most difficult courses a student of any field can face.
Instead of tackling the complexities of this field on your own, consider working with a private tutor. Varsity Tutors' educational directors can help you connect with a cosmology tutor suited to your needs and learning goals. Educators have achieved remarkable success in their own cosmology coursework, and they have also been carefully screened.
When you work with a cosmology tutor, you will be receiving assistance from a skilled professional. Your tutor will be hand-picked based on your learning style, goals, and personality. With this information in mind, your personal tutor can develop a lesson plan that is best suited for your needs, while conducting lessons in a way that is both exciting and engaging for you. You may find that studying with a private tutor is not only a great way to master cosmology, but also perfect for developing an overall appreciation for the subject.
Cosmology tutoring offers you the chance to have an individually-tailored course of instruction for cosmology. You may be shocked at how quickly you can grasp the abstract concepts inherent in any cosmology class with such an arrangement. Instead of wasting time with generic review books or in huge lecture halls with impersonal teaching assistants, you are able to focus on your weaknesses with targeted cosmology tutoring sessions and personalized lesson plans. Your investment of time can, therefore, have a considerably better payoff, and you can focus your remaining time on your many other obligations.
Your cosmology tutor is happy to hold sessions at a time that accommodates your busy schedule. You have the freedom to choose when you would like to study, and can even learn during the weekend. Furthermore, you can choose to study in the comfort of your own home, at your college or university campus, in your favorite coffee shop, or anywhere else easily accessible to you. Also, if you don't enjoy in-person tutoring sessions or can't attend one because of prior commitments, simply ask your instructor to study with you over the internet.
Impress graduate schools or potential employers with both your grades in cosmology as well as your variety of other activities. Cosmology tutors are not just knowledgeable, they are also extremely familiar with teaching and educational methods for the subject. Don't start from zero on your own when you can instead build on the foundation that your tutor has developed in his or her journey. With a field as broad and rapidly evolving as cosmology, you can't afford to rely on any other resource. Contact Varsity Tutors today and let us help you connect with a private cosmology tutor anywhere in the nation! It doesn't matter what your proficiency level is, we can help you find a tutor right for you.

Recent Cosmology Tutoring Session Notes
Today, the student and I reviewed domains and kingdoms in phylogenetics, concluding with a quick review of viruses. Because the material is not particularly difficult to understand, I tried to give additional background on each topic to increase his retention of the information. Understanding phylogenetics and viruses is essentially memorizing several facts and topics. I clarified the distinction between bacteria and viruses and how that relates to the difference between antibiotics and vaccinations. I attempted to provide historical anecdotes as well as to how these medical treatments were first discovered, particularly stressing why antibiotics cannot be used to treat viruses such as the common cold.
Today the student and I went over questions that she had while taking notes from the book. These questions included nephrons, the lymphatic system, and countercurrent exchange. She has a test on Wednesday, so I gave her advice on how to study and sent her videos that explain these systems in greater detail.
During this session, the student and I prepared for his upcoming quiz on translation and transcription. After a thorough review session, I asked him to draw out each of the major steps in both transcription and translation and to identify the major molecules involved. He did very well.
Today, in our session, we went over the student's biology midterm, both the answers to each of the questions, any knowledge gaps she may have had, and structure for how to look at the questions (reading the entire question before answering, diagramming the question, being very tuned to the specific language of a particular question). Following this, we went over G-protein coupled receptors, the GI lining, and the processes of homeostasis, with an example of heat regulation.
I helped the student prepare for her upcoming biology midterm. The material consisted of genetics principals, meiosis, and mitosis. We covered mitosis and meiosis in depth, exploring the similarities and differences and following what happens with the DNA. We covered Punnett squares, especially monohybrid and dihybrid crosses.
We worked ahead in the student's PowerPoint. He took visible notes, in which he could use to quiz himself. He is to write down the questions at the end of the slide show, and answer them. These questions are going to be on his final, so it is extremely important that he finds the answers. He said he felt more confident in the test he took this past week, I'm excited to see what he gets. It's process to turn his grade around, but I feel we're on the right path.
