Certified Tutor
Having worked inside and outside of the classroom I have gained a perspective on the benefits of outside help. Within the past year I have worked as a tutor both corporately and privately, each with a different focus yet following the same theme. That the student is the main focus. One can not build if there is no foundation, which is the mentality where instructors meet students where they are and build from what the student knows.
Whether it is due to class size, student confidence or even the general lack of understanding tutors can act as buffer in such situations that affect the student's' overall education. In tutoring, as for many other instructional based programing, such situations can arise, but the general difference is that the tutor can dissect the content and build understanding alongside the student on a smaller scale.
The student is now one-on-one with the instructor and is able to delve fully into the subject and gain a better feel of the subject. Secondly, exposure is everything. The more a student works with the subject, the better chance they have at remembering and internalizing the skill. A tutor may also allow for dialogue to begin where the student is talking, discussing, analyzing and discovering in a way that may not have been possible in a classroom setting. For these reasons, I believe tutoring is beneficial and dually my reasoning behind becoming a tutor.
