What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe that it is important to teach students how to connect the things that they are learning in the classroom to the everyday world. Almost any skill can be applied in some aspect of life.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would like to learn the strengths and struggles of the student. I would also like to know personal interests or hobbies that I may be able to tie learning material into to make things easier to learn. We would also jump right into material.
