Unshackled Literacy is committed to helping children unlock their imaginations and improve skills in practical ways by providing them with a secure foundation to risk and strengthen their learning muscles in creative expression and meaningful learning. I earned a B.S. in elementary education and M.Ed. in reading education and literacy specialization from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
I've worked with children since my freshman year of college in a variety of ways; as a camp counselor, day camp counselor, swimming instructor, early childhood literacy administrator, and a substitute teacher as I worked and studied for my degrees. I taught middle school reading education and world literature courses and later created a program for improving literacy development using Title One funds at an at-risk intermediate school that had very successful results.
I've taught classrooms from 3rd to 7th grade, tutored neurologically diverse students, and enjoyed watching and celebrating growth and confidence.

I provide subject tutoring in ELA, social sciences, and reading instruction for primary, intermediate, and middle school students by using objectives and standards to personalize instruction.
I am a relational tutor and believe that all students launch and grow by tailoring their instruction to identify what they already know and build together on a foundation of trust and respect.
