Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Amherst College. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science & History with a focus on Latin America. Since graduation, I have traveled extensively, tutoring elementary aged children in the speaking, reading and writing of English, Portuguese, Spanish and Japanese language ; High School students in DC looking to improve their standardized test scores (SAT, AP, and IB exams); and private clients in around the world with an emphasis on written communication and essay writing for continued education, work cover letters, and beyond. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Languages, STEM, and History. I have full spectrum experience, from helping neurodivergent and struggling students prepare for Standardized Tests or keep up with classroom instruction all the way through to enrichment focused instruction for students looking to graduate early, test out of a particular course or stay sharp during their summer months. I am a firm advocate for fostering a psychologically safe education environment, encouraging my students to nurture their curiosities, take risks, and challenge the 'status quo' as opposed to simply memorizing the facts & formulas. In working with me, my students learn how to judge their WORK instead of judging themselves. I believe education is more than the information we accumulate in our heads; it is the habits we develop as we revise our outputs and the skills we build to keep learning. In my spare time, I enjoy reading that which enriches my life, yoga, skydiving, and work as a performance coach for Junior Olympic Field Hockey players in The US and Portugal.
