Certified Tutor

I received my Bachelor of Arts from Williams College. I double majored in Political Science and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (with Honors), and minored in Africana Studies. During my time at Williams I also studied abroad in Brazil: I took classes in Rio de Janeiro and conducted independent thesis research in Salvador de Bahia.

I have worked intermittently as a tutor since I was in high school. I specialize in one-on-one and small group settings and have comprehensive experience working with neurodivergent students, particularly those with ADD or ADHD. I also have extensive experience working with Spanish-speaking students.

While much of my experience is in elementary school education, I have also worked with adult learners in computer literacy and cooking and nutrition, as well as Spanish and Portuguese-speakers learning English.

Since graduating from Williams I have held multiple positions focused on academic support and educational enrichment. I worked directly with classroom teachers to evaluate students' academic strengths and challenges, ensuring students received tutoring catered to their specific social and emotional needs in line with their broader school-day experience. I have also run virtual after school programming, teaching live tutorials in cooking and nutrition and managing the online classroom space. In this position I learned how to balance the logistic necessities of online education, providing students with a variety of tools of engagement (slideshow presentations, videos, music, virtual books, interactive games) while maintaining and improving their academic skill. Through my varied experiences I have I learned how to make online learning engaging and accessible while staying attentive to students' academic and social needs.

I believe students learn best when they feel heard and encouraged. I am passionate about helping students feel confident and engaged in their learning experience. I love helping students understand what they have learned in terms of their own lived experience, and I cherish getting to know their interests and incorporating them into our time together.
