What can Dallas-Fort Worth GMAT prep cover?

The GMAT takes 3.5 hours to complete the four sections: Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Integrated Reasoning, and the Analytical Writing Assessment. Each section serves to measure the skills that matter most in business, such as critical thinking, communication, logical reasoning, and data sufficiency. Taken over a computer-adaptive system, you can choose between three sequences to tackle the exam based on your preferences. Let's start with the Verbal Reasoning section.

The Verbal Reasoning section assesses your skills as it pertains to written English texts. Over 65 minutes, you will need to solve 36 problems pertaining to reading comprehension, sentence correction, and critical reasoning. While both the reading comprehension and critical reasoning questions include passages that you need to assess, the prior focuses on your understanding while the latter focuses on your ability to evaluate an argument. Sentence correction questions measure your ability to use correct and effective expressions.

You will have 62 minutes to complete the Quantitative Reasoning section, which spans 31 questions. You will need to demonstrate strong skills in logical and analytical reasoning in terms of quantitative problems and data. While you cannot use a calculator for this portion, you will need basic math knowledge in algebra, arithmetic, and geometry. This section allows you the opportunity to demonstrate how well you can solve problems and evaluate data using logic and analysis.

The Integrated Reasoning section of the GMAT presents a large amount of different data across multiple formats to determine how well you can handle using data to make sound decisions. You will need to demonstrate strong skills in data organization, evaluation, and comparison to solve complex problems. There are 12 questions split into 4 types: multi-source reasoning, two-part analysis, graphics interpretation, and table analysis. Many questions will require multiple answers, which will all need to be correct to count.

The Analytical Writing Assessment can be a challenge, particularly for those who struggle with time management. You will have 30 minutes to assess and respond to an argument, which typically includes business-related topics. Your response will need to be well thought out, organized, and cohesive.

What benefits do different approaches to Dallas-Fort Worth GMAT prep offer?

There are two main Dallas-Fort Worth GMAT prep options, each of which offers unique advantages. If you aren't sure which option is best for you, our educational consultants can help you explore your choices. In the meantime, let's take a further look at each option.

For students who prefer to collaborative learning, a Dallas-Fort Worth GMAT prep course can be a convenient option that allows you to participate in interactive instruction via an online classroom. You can take courses in two- or four-week sessions with new ones beginning every week.

Under the guidance of a thoroughly-vetted mentor, you and your peers can review for each aspect of the exam together. Your instructor can introduce you to the different sections, their requirements, and other features of the test. Each class gives you the opportunity to expand your knowledge of the Integrated Reasoning section while your instructor offers tips and strategies that can help you manage your time as you sort through large amounts of data. You can even engage one-on-one with your course instructor when you have trouble understanding a complicated topic.

If you would rather work one-on-one with a private Dallas-Fort Worth GMAT tutor, we can get you signed up with an excellent instructor who has the experience and skills needed to enhance your study sessions. A personal mentor can develop a unique approach to your test review that factors in your existing skills and the areas in which you have the most opportunity for improvement. Unlike in a class, your instructor can focus solely on the test sections and abilities that you need. For instance, if you feel confident about the Quantitative Reasoning section, your mentor can focus on the other portions. You can spend sessions practicing your time management for the Analytical Writing Assessment or assessing unstated assumptions for the Verbal Reasoning section.

Your mentor can demonstrate test-taking strategies that can help you remain confident as you work towards your testing goals. They can offer practice tests or walk you through different ways to approach a complex problem. Personalized tutoring can serve as a valuable supplement to a test prep class or as a standalone option that can help you as needed. Whether you opt to take one or both, you can rely on Varsity Tutors to get started with top-notch test review.
