As you prepare for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), Varsity Tutors can help you enroll in a Dallas Fort Worth MCAT course that can offer a clear plan of study guided by an experienced instructor. After years of diligently working towards your goal of medical school and a career as a doctor, many students find themselves wondering if they've done enough. Unfortunately, the answer is sometimes no. It's easy to miss critical concepts as your undergraduate degree speeds along only to find yourself sitting for the MCAT underprepared. If you're committed to doing your best on the MCAT, you need to make sure you spend enough energy and time on preparation.
The MCAT is highly respected at medical schools across the country. Whether you're applying to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, the University of North Texas Health Science Center, or another top medical school, you will almost certainly be asked to include your MCAT scores as part of the application process. Admissions officers consider these scores carefully because they're an effective indicator of the potential of candidates to thrive in medical school. To learn more about what is covered on the exam and how Varsity Tutors can help you prepare, continue reading.
What can a Dallas Fort Worth MCAT course cover?
There are four separate sections on the MCAT, for which you'll receive four individual scores as well as a combined fifth score. You can earn between 118 and 132 points for each section, and your combined score will be between 472 and 528. You'll have slightly more than 6 hours of total testing time, with each section having its own time constraints. All of the questions are multiple choice, and the test is computerized. Becoming familiar with the format and the time limitations are crucial if you don't want to leave questions unanswered.
During the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills section of the MCAT, you will have 90 minutes to answer 53 questions which are based on reading passages. The Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems, Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems, and Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior portions of the MCAT each have 59 questions which you will have 95 minutes to answer. These three sections each have ten reading selections that include up to 6 questions each. They also have 15 additional items which are not tied to any reading passages. At any point in the exam, you may be given an experimental question which is included to help improve the accuracy of the MCAT. However, these will not be part of your scores.
A Dallas Fort Worth MCAT class can help you work towards improving your understanding of the subject areas, concepts, and skills evaluated as part of the MCAT. If you aren't feeling confident in the level of your abilities, or if you want to brush up on a few critical points to do your absolute best on test day, working with a professional instructor can be invaluable.
How can a Dallas Fort Worth MCAT class help me prepare?
When you enroll in a Dallas Fort Worth MCAT class, you are making a commitment to yourself to do all you can to ensure you succeed. This commitment is not just to achieve your desired score on the test, it's also to the future you want in the medical profession. As a doctor, you will need to work with other specialists and rely on the expertise of those around you to support you on a day-to-day basis. When you enroll in a class, you show recognition for the fact that you are not yet an expert yourself and that you are capable of relying on others to help you work towards performing at the highest level. All of our Dallas Fort Worth MCAT course and class instructors go through a rigorous interviewing and vetting process to ensure you have a skilled instructor guiding you through every step of the preparatory process.
Prospective medical students are busy people, so we have set up MCAT classes that fit into your life. You can choose the duration of your prep work by enrolling in either a two- or four-week class. You can further customize your learning experience by selecting the time at which you prefer to meet, as there are several options available to fit your scheduling needs.
All classes are held in an online learning environment where you will meet with your instructor and classmates. Your teacher will deliver the curriculum via direct instruction. They may then encourage peer discussion, independent review, group discussion, or other activities designed to facilitate greater mastery of the material.
The most unique way a class can help you prepare is through peer interaction and support. Too often when students begin to prepare for an elite test or want to increase their career prospects, they find those they are surrounded by in their daily lives don't understand the process. This can lead to discouragement and difficulty in following through on your goals. When you are surrounded by highly motivated like-minded peers, you will have a community that understands what you're going through and what it will take to get to the other side. This can help keep you engaged and motivated as you work through the material to prepare for your MCAT.
How can I get started with a Dallas Fort Worth MCAT prep course?
Varsity Tutors can help you enroll in a Dallas Fort Worth MCAT course quickly and easily. If you want the support and guidance a course can offer, but you've been putting it off and hoping to prepare on your own, now is the time to stop.
