If you dream of attending local colleges like the University of Nebraska Medical Center or the Creighton University School of Medicine, you need to show your abilities on the MCAT. A great way to review for the exam is by signing up for our prep course.
An Omaha MCAT course may be the solution you need to prepare for the test effectively. Each course is taught by a skilled teacher, and all of them are virtual. The purpose of a prep course is to assist you in getting ready for the structure and timing of the MCAT while building your understanding of topics you'll see on exam day.
What could an Omaha MCAT course help me study?
The MCAT is a computer-based exam with four sections, including Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills, Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior, Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems, and Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems. The time limit for the whole exam is seven hours and 30 minutes with breaks in between. The MCAT focuses on disciplines that medical school faculty and medical school students feel are vital to a potential student's success. Your professors have probably told you a little about this test, but let's go over each section anyway.
There are 53 multiple-choice questions in the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills section. It's made up of nine passage-based sets each containing five to seven questions. The subjects it covers include the humanities, social sciences, and English, and it tests your analytical, reasoning, and reading comprehension skills. You have one hour and 30 minutes to finish this section.
There are 59 multiple-choice questions in the Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior section. It contains 10 passage-based sets each with four to six questions and 15 independent questions. It covers biology, introductory psychology, and introductory sociology, and it tests you on issues like the link between one's behavior and its effect on health and human/social issues in the medical field. Its time limit is 95 minutes.
Fifty-nine multiple-choice questions make up the Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems section. It has 10 passage-based sets each containing four to six questions and 15 independent questions. It focuses on five subjects: general chemistry, basic biochemistry, introductory biology, introductory physics, and organic and inorganic chemistry. This section requires you to know about the periodic table, chemical reactions, and other related concepts. You have 95 minutes to answer the questions.
The Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems section consists of 59 multiple-choice questions. The questions come in the form of 10 passage-based sets with four to six questions per set and 15 independent questions. It features introductory biology, basic biochemistry, general chemistry, and organic chemistry. This section assesses your scientific inquiry and reasoning skills. It has a 95-minute time limit.
You'll earn one score from each of the four sections and one combined score. In other words, you'll receive five scores on the exam. Each portion of the test is scored on a scale ranging between 118 and 132 points. The overall score ranges between 472 and 528 points. Any of the sections on the exam may possess experimental questions, but they won't count toward your score.
