Varsity Tutors can help you find Indianapolis NCLEX prep as you move toward your nursing licensure. Taking online classes or tutoring can help nursing candidates review for this important exam on their journey to becoming either a practical or registered nurse. Whether you took nursing classes at Ivy Tech Community College-Central Indiana, University of Indianapolis, or another nursing program close by, you'll want to do a thorough review of the material you learned. It's especially important to prepare if you haven't studied the fundamentals in a while. Participating in an Indianapolis NCLEX prep course or seeking the help of a private instructor can be beneficial to you as you study for this crucial exam.

What are the concepts I'll review during Indianapolis NCLEX prep?

The National Council Licensure Examination, or the NCLEX, is an exam taken by practical and registered nursing candidates. The exam has four sections that deal with the areas of client needs. These sections are Physiological Integrity, Health Promotion and Maintenance, Safe and Effective Care Environment, and Psychosocial Integrity. Within each of the sections, you'll have a range of topics you'll need to know, such as how you interact both verbally and nonverbally with a client and how you show a client respect and trust. There are a few differences in the test between a practical nurse (PN) and a registered nurse (RN), but for the most part, the test is the same. The length of the PN test is five hours while the RN test is six hours.

Not only will Indianapolis NCLEX prep go over the content of the exam, but it will go over the format as well. Depending upon how you do with each question as you take the exam determines how many questions you have on the NCLEX. This type of exam is called Computer-Adaptive Testing. Each time you answer a question, the computer generates a question based on how you answered the previous one. For this reason, you won't be able to go back to a question. Your NCLEX instructor can teach you ways to answer questions more efficiently. They can show you test-taking strategies to help you eliminate the obviously wrong answers so you can take your best guess if you don't know an answer.

What are the benefits of the two different types of Indianapolis NCLEX prep?

Varsity Tutors can set you with two kinds of prep including online private tutoring and group classes. Many students prefer to only choose one or the other. However, some students do choose to participate in both options. Whichever prep you pick, you'll have access to an expert instructor who is ready to help you with your test prep. Let's take a closer look at the different types of NCLEX prep.

If you prefer working in a collaborative environment, you'll want to choose an NCLEX prep class. Once you enroll in the class, you'll meet the other students and your class instructor online using our Live Learning Platform. You'll discuss various topics of the NCLEX with your classmates and instructor using a virtual whiteboard and a video chat. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions, especially about those topics you don't quite understand. In return, you can share your knowledge and help other students who may be struggling with a concept. If you still don't get the answer you're seeking, you can always ask for extra one-on-one help from the instructor.

If you prefer working on your own, an NCLEX prep tutor might be a better solution for you. As your private instructor gets to know you the first couple of sessions, they can understand your learning style and use it to plan your next sessions. Your academic mentor can focus on what you need to work on the most and not have to worry about other students. You can spend as much time as you need to relearn some things, such as Management of Care, and less time on things you already know well, like Basic Care and Comfort. You won't feel embarrassed about asking your instructor questions, and you'll get the answers right away.
