What topics does Kansas City GMAT prep go over?
The GMAT is an electronic exam with four different sections: Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, Integrated Reasoning, and an Analytical Writing Assessment. The Quantitative Reasoning section is a math test that measures your quantitative problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and data interpretation abilities. Questions on this section fall under two broad categories: data sufficiency and problem-solving. The data sufficiency items ask you to determine when you have been given enough information to feasibly answer a particular problem, bearing in mind that some of the info provided may not be relevant at all. Problem-solving questions require you to work with data in order to determine the correct response. You have 62 minutes to answer 31 multiple-choice questions on this section.
The exam's Verbal Reasoning section assesses a test-taker's English language knowledge and critical thinking skills through three types of questions: reading comprehension, critical reasoning, and sentence corrections. Reading comprehension questions assess how well you can understand and draw conclusions from written information. Critical thinking items measure how well you can create and evaluate arguments and plans of action. Sentence corrections measure your English grammar knowledge. You have a total of 65 minutes to answer 36 multiple-choice questions on this section.
The test's Integrated Reasoning section evaluates how well a test-taker can apply what they have learned in the classroom to a business context. There are a variety of question types on this portion of the test, including graphic interpretation, two-part analysis, table analysis, and multi-source reasoning. You have half an hour to answer 12 multiple-choice questions on this section, but bear in mind that most of the questions require more than one response.
Finally, the GMAT's Analytical Writing Assessment is a 30-minute essay that requires you to critique an argument. You could end up writing about nearly anything, but you aren't expected to incorporate any prior knowledge in your response. Instead, you're graded on your topical analysis, syntactic variety, organization, clarity of expression, and understanding of the provided material. It is highly recommended that you outline your response beforehand to help you present your case in a cohesive manner.

Varsity Tutors can help you find a Kansas City GMAT tutor who can help you work toward your goals. Working with a private instructor means that you can concentrate on your unique areas of opportunity to improve your study efficiency. For example, a student who excels in writing might want to focus their test prep on the Quantitative Reasoning and Integrated Reasoning sections of the exam. Your instructor can take the time to get to know you, allowing them to design study sessions around your preferred learning style to help you make the most of them. We understand how busy you are, so our proprietary Live Learning Platform allows face-to-face meetings so that you don't need to worry about a commute. You are also in complete control of when every session takes place, mitigating the risk of a scheduling conflict.
If you're looking for a more collaborative study experience, you might want to take a Kansas City GMAT prep class. Each class takes place on a live virtual platform, allowing you to interact with your teacher and classmates in real time. You can all work together to develop a more comprehensive understanding of the skills you'll need on test day. For instance, active reading skills can help you remember more of the information presented to you in the Analytical Writing and Verbal Reasoning sections. If you feel that you need extra help with a particular concept, you have the choice to arrange one-on-one time with your instructor.
We also make our classes as convenient as possible. We offer both two- and four-week classes, helping you find something that works well for you. We also start new classes every week, so it's always a great time to start working toward your academic goals.
Regardless of which option you choose, you can also take practice exams to develop a sense of what you can expect on test day. Gaining experience with the exam's electronic interface can help quell any concerns you may have about taking a test on a computer. Likewise, reviewing how you did on a practice test can help you determine your academic strengths and any areas that could use a little more work.
