The Independent School Entrance Examination, or ISEE, is administered to students applying to private and independent schools. It is widely accepted by private schools. A student's scores on the Independent School Entrance Examination can affect their chances of getting accepted into the school of their choice. That is why it is so important to get professional ISEE preparation help for your student.
What will my student need to know for the ISEE?
Your student's grade level will determine which level of the Independent School Entrance Exam they will end up taking. If your student is going into the second grade, they will be administered Level 2 of the Primary Level ISEE. Students going into the third grade will be administered Level 3 of the Primary Level ISEE, and students going into the fourth grade will be administered Level 4 of the Primary Level ISEE.
If your student is going into the fifth or sixth grade, they will be given the Lower Level ISEE. Students going into the seventh and eighth grades will be given the Middle Level ISEE, while the Upper Level ISEE will be administered to students going into the ninth through twelfth grades.
The Primary Level of the ISEE (including Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4) will have a Reading section, a Math section, and a Writing Sample. Level 2 of the Primary Level ISEE will have a fourth section covering Auditory Comprehension.
The Lower Level ISEE, Middle Level ISEE, and Upper Level ISEE all have the same outline, though the questions will be different. The following is a general outline of the exam.
First will be the Verbal Reasoning section. On the Lower Level ISEE, students will be tested on concepts such as using context clues to complete a sentence. On the Middle Level ISEE, students will be tested on concepts such as using word clues (such as although and because). On the Upper Level ISEE, students will be tested on concepts such as high-school level vocabulary and Anglo-Saxon, Greek, and Latin prefixes and suffixes.
Next will be the Quantitative Reasoning section. On the Lower Level ISEE, students will be tested on concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. On the Middle Level ISEE, students will be tested on concepts such as working with integers, fractions, decimals, and percents. On the Upper Level ISEE, students will be tested on concepts such as working with variables and exponents.
Next will be the Reading Comprehension section. On the Lower Level ISEE, students will be tested on concepts such as finding and using information from passages to answer questions. On the Middle Level ISEE, students will be tested on concepts such as causes and effects. On the Upper Level ISEE, students will be tested on concepts such as identifying features of different literary genres.
Next will be the Math Achievement section. On the Lower Level ISEE, students will be tested on concepts such as basic two-dimensional and three-dimensional figures. On the Middle Level ISEE, students will be tested on concepts such as properties of operations and integer comparisons. On the Upper Level ISEE, students will be tested on concepts such as finding the area and perimeter of geometric shapes.
Next will be the Essay. The Essay will test for age-appropriate writing skills, and it will also give students the chance to talk about a topic that interests them so that they can tell the school more about themselves.
How can I prepare my student for their test with professional Las Vegas ISEE prep?
One way to help your student prepare for the ISEE is by enrolling them in a Las Vegas ISEE prep course. Your student can enroll in either a two-week course or a four-week course. You may want to enroll them in a four-week course if they need additional help preparing for the test.
Taking a Las Vegas ISEE prep class can give your student the opportunity to fill any gaps in their knowledge. They can take notes during the class, which they can later use when reviewing their studies during their private time. These classes take place online, so your student will not have to commute anywhere in order to take them. Classes are administered by professional educators. The class instructor can encourage students to ask questions about topics that they do not fully understand. This can benefit not only the student asking the question but all the other students of the class. Questions can bring to light new difficulties that were not apparent before. It can also spark class discussions, which can help everyone gain new insights into what they are studying.
Another way to prepare your student for the ISEE is by getting them private lessons with a Las Vegas ISEE tutor. A private educational mentor can prepare your student by giving them individualized attention. They can devise study sessions that match your student's individual learning style and pace. Your student can also get the opportunity to ask their private teacher all of their questions. During a class, a student may feel inhibited by the pace of the class and not have time to ask all of the questions on their mind. However, with private tutoring, they will have the opportunity to do so.
What is the best way to get started with Las Vegas ISEE prep?
