A Varsity Tutors educational consultant can assist those who are preparing for the GRE by connecting them with Louisville GRE preparation options. Both students and working professionals may want to go to graduate school to pursue careers in medicine, law, business, or another vocation. They must take the GRE to be considered for admissions to schools like the University of Louisville, Bellarmine University, and other schools all over the world.
The Graduate Record Examinations, or the GRE, is a three-section test that prospective students take to augment their chances of admission in a graduate program. Though some universities don't require the exam, it's highly recommended for you to take it if you want your application to stand out. We at Varsity Tutors can offer connections to two types of GRE test review: a prep course and private tutoring. A Louisville GRE prep course may suit you if you like studying with your peers. If you feel you would benefit better in a one-on-one setting, we can match you with a Louisville GRE tutor. Regardless of what type of prep help you sign up for, we'll support you in any way possible.
What can Louisville GRE prep programs help me go over?
The GRE consists of three sections, including Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. There are more than 160 countries worldwide that administer this test, and it's accepted by many post-secondary institutions. It comes in computer-delivered and paper-delivered forms. You can take the computer-delivered version on any test date, but the paper-delivered version is only available three times a year. You may have heard a little about the GRE already through a friend or professor. Nevertheless, let's talk about each section in-depth.
The Quantitative Reasoning portion contains two sections, each with 20 questions. It tests you on algebra, geometry, data analysis, and arithmetic. This section has quantitative comparison, numeric entry, and multiple-choice questions. You'll receive 130 to 170 points, and you have 70 minutes to complete it.
The Verbal Reasoning portion is also split into two sections of 20 questions each. It covers sentence equivalence, text completion, and reading comprehension. It measures your ability to summarize a passage, understand the meaning of words and sentences, identify the weaknesses and strengths of a passage, and many other skills. You'll receive 130 to 170 points, and you have a time limit of 60 minutes.
The Analytical Writing portion has two writing tasks. One writing task depicts an issue, and the other one shows an argument. Your job is to analyze them, write your responses, and proofread your work if you have time. It assesses your ability to maintain a coherent and focused discussion, back up ideas with concrete evidence, and to write grammatically-correct sentences. You'll receive 0 to 6 points, and you have one hour to complete the tasks.
On the Quantitative or Verbal Reasoning sections, there may be an Experimental section that doesn't get a score. Though the section isn't identified, it's crucial for you to treat all questions the same. Additionally, there's a Research section that arrives close to the end of the test, and it may take the place of the Experimental section. It's optional and identified.
How does each Louisville GRE prep option benefit me?
The educational consultants at Varsity Tutors can link you with prep classes or individual instructions. Each program has its own unique qualities, and you can sign up for both of them if you think they'll help you. Read more about the programs below.
If you like meeting up with friends to study at the campus library or another locale, then you may enjoy a Louisville GRE prep class. This online program enables you to attend classes with an instructor and other students through your computer. Therefore, you don't need to go anywhere to engage in lessons. Are you swamped with a job or other classes? You don't need to worry about time conflicts, because new sessions begin every week. In addition, you can choose between a two-week class and a four-week class. If you only want to spend a short time studying for the GRE, then a two-week class is perfect for you. Do you feel you need to study for it a little longer? You may benefit from four-week sessions. Each week, you and your peers will engage in group discussions and activities to prepare for the exam. For example, if you want to strengthen your reading comprehension and analyzation skills for the Verbal Reasoning portion, you can practice with sample passages. The teacher can also share excellent test-taking tips, like how to choose between two correct-sounding answers or how to deal with test jitters. You can even get one-on-one assistance from the teacher if you need help with specific areas.
However, if you wish that you could get unlimited personal assistance with the GRE from a professor, you might prefer private GRE tutoring. While it's possible for teachers to set a bit of time aside to help you, it can be hard to do so. A tutor's help is easier to access since they can work with you on a flexible schedule. They can also conduct lessons in ways that complement your individual learning style. For instance, if you learn best by hearing something, an educator can read a document out loud or play a sound file. If you want someone to help you monitor your progress on your work, you can share your goals, areas of opportunity, and any other information that could help your private instructor create a customized study plan.
These sound like awesome programs. How do I get started with Louisville GRE prep options?
We're glad to hear that you're ready to sign up for one or both GRE prep programs. Getting started is very simple. You only need to pick up the phone or send a message through our online contact form. If you want to sign up for Louisville GRE prep options today, reach out to a Varsity Tutors educational consultant for more information.

Zackary: Louisville GRE test prep instructor
I have a Ph.D. in Theatre from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a masters degree in Educational Theatre from New York University, and is an honors graduate of Lewis and Clark Colleges theatre department in Portland, Oregon. In addition to my background in theatre, I regularly work with students to improve their writing and research skills.... I subscribe to a dialectical approach to education that relies on a myriad of voices and different perspectives in the classroom, and I believe that learning and teaching function best in a collaborative environment that values mutual discovery and collective reflection. As an educator, I structure all my interactions with students--be they in the classroom, in one-on-one advising sessions, or in the rehearsal hall--around the premise that I have as much to learn from them as they from me. In his work, Paulo Freire espouses the idea of the 'unfinishedness' of the individual learner; the constant state of revision that takes place as people continue to develop their understanding of themselves and the world around them. Like Freire, I see education as a partnership between teacher and student; an equal partnership where both parties continually learn, adapt, and influence each other. Education, therefore, becomes a process and not a goal; it is something that is never completed; a lifelong evolution of the mind. As an educator, I respect that process, and I hope to create an environment where students are able to revise and continually form their understanding of the world.
