If you are looking to start your Omaha ACT prep, Varsity Tutors can help you out. There are many options available for students in the Omaha area who are studying for the ACT. It is important to prepare properly for this exam. Many students in area high schools, such as Creighton Preparatory School and Millard North High School, opt to take the ACT as their college preparation test of choice. It is one of two possible options.
Studying with a professional, either in a class or during private one-on-one tutoring sessions, is a great way to make sure that you are as prepared as you can be for the ACT. Colleges look at your scores on the ACT to determine whether you will be a good fit for their programs and whether you are a serious student. Your scores can show whether or not you will be able to keep up with the pace of studying that is expected of students at that particular college, and how well you paid attention during your high school classes.
What should I cover during my ACT preparation?
The ACT has four sections. In total, you will have two hours and 55 minutes to complete all of the sections, not including any breaks. The four sections are Math, Reading, English, and Science. There is a fifth section, Writing, but this section is optional.
The Math section will take 60 minutes. It will have 60 questions. Problems will touch upon issues that you should have learned up to the beginning of the twelfth grade. You will be tested on various math topics, such as algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
The Reading section will take 35 minutes. There will be 40 questions. You will be presented with various reading materials. The level of the reading materials will be more or less on the same level as you what can expect during your first year of college. You will be tested on your ability to properly comprehend the reading material and answer questions based on the passages presented to you.
The English section will take 45 minutes. You will have a lot of questions on this section - 75 in total. Again, you will be presented with passages and multiple choice questions. However, here you will be tested on your knowledge of the English language. Your writing skills will be measured as well, as you will be tested on how well you can correct sentence structure and choose the answer with the proper grammatical structure and spelling.
The Science section will take 35 minutes. You will have 40 questions to answer. You will again be presented with passages, this time on scientific topics. You will also be presented with various viewpoints or perspectives on the issue. You will then have to write your own response, which should contain your own perspective in a way that is related to at least one of the three perspectives provided to you.
Finally, there is the Writing section, which is optional. You will have 40 minutes to complete this section. Again, you will be presented with a prompt, along with three different perspectives on the issue. Again, you must write your own response, which must contain your own perspective as it relates to one of the provided perspectives. Here, you will be tested on your writing skills.
What kind of Omaha ACT prep should I choose?
We mentioned that there are two options when it comes to preparing for your ACT. You can opt to take an Omaha ACT prep class, for one. There is a new class starting every week. You will not have to wait long to start. Your class can go on for either two or four weeks, depending on how much preparation you feel you need.
You will take your Omaha ACT prep course online, in an online setting. This gives you the ability to take courses from the comfort of your own home. At the same time, you get the opportunity to interact with the other students, as well as the instructor. You can take the course on the weekends, the weekdays, or whenever you have free time. These courses provide an excellent opportunity to review all of the sections of the test. Learning with other students allows you to share ideas and help each other out. You can also get some private time with the instructor to ask any questions about things that you missed during the courses.
Another option is reviewing the ACT with the help of an Omaha ACT tutor. A private educational mentor can study with you privately. This gives you a lot of flexibility as you can schedule these sessions at any time of the day. You can schedule as many or as few sessions as you would like. In addition, you have flexibility when it comes to the location as well. A private mentor can come to your home to study with you so that you do not have to spend time commuting.
With private mentoring, you can study at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Some students may find that they need more help for the Math section than the Reading section. It all depends on your individual needs. A private instructor can focus on the areas in which you need help the most. You can develop a rapport with your mentor, and this can help you look forward to your mentoring sessions.
Of course, a third option is doing a combination of the above two options. One possible strategy would be to take a two-week or four-week course in order to make sure that you review all of the four or five subjects. Then, you can get private instructional sessions in order to focus on the specific areas with which you need additional help.

My journey in education started when my sons were young and I volunteered to help with struggling students on my own time. I enjoy seeing a student discover new concepts and skills that help them become a successful learner. My education has become my passion. I learn each and every day just as my students. It's something that can't be taken away from a person.... My philosophy to teaching is to reach out to students who are struggling and bring them to a point where their learning is important to them. Learning should be enjoyable to teach. When teaching, I use technology as often as possible, and give a variety of ways to learn new concepts.

...long learner, a continual student of the learning process. It's what makes me an effective teacher - I routinely am exposed to the challenges of learning from the student's perspective. I believe education must be a coordinated effort between student and teacher. Finding a good connection and appropriate content to fit with the student is the most important prerequisite. Without such a prerequisite, the educational process is much lower as an effective exchange. I have...

...before the tests themselves. I believe that every student requires a different teaching strategy, and I believe in treating every student as an individual rather than a collective. In terms of me personally, I really enjoy classical and electric violin, tennis, DJ'ing, as well as electronic music production. I am also an avid gamer, and I really enjoy the game League of Legends. I look forward to getting to know my clients.... Every student is different. Everyone has different strengths as well as different weaknesses, and I believe that each student deserves a personalized plan for improving test scores and performance. I also believe in humor while teaching. I also enjoy relating to my students, and I understand that different approaches are required depending on the client. I'm a recent grad from Northwestern (B.A. in Theatre and Economics) who loves teaching and learning. I love helping other people achieve their goals and helping students find ways to be their best selves. Excited to meet and work with Chicagoland's students!... First sessions always start with discussion of a subject's foundations. If we nail these, the rest of the learning becomes ten times easier.... I'm big on listening. It's my job to hear what a client needs instead of jumping right into practice problems or revisions. First, we talk about goals. Then, we set up a timeline and steps for how to achieve those goals.
